문학 교육과정에서 ‘즐거움’의 구체화를 위한 예비적 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 문학 교육과정에서 언급하고 있는 ‘즐거움’이 아직 선언적이고 추상적인 수준에 머물러 있다는 문제의식을 가지고 향후 교육과정의 발전 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 기존의 논의를 검토하여 종합한 즐거움의 범주는 즐거움의 대상과 즐거움의 질을 바탕으로 하여 설정한 두 축을 기준으로 하였다. 이때 대상의 축은 작품의 구조와 독자의 체험을 양 극단으로 가지며 질의 축은 즉각적 반응과 종합 및 성찰을 양 극단으로 가진다. 그러나 이를 통해 범주화된 즐거움은 결과로서의 즐거움이며 과정으로서의 즐거움은 ‘헤매기와 탐색’으로서의 속성을 갖는다고 보았다. 헤매기와 탐색이 교육에서 즐거움으로 작용하기 위해서는 학습자의 현재 관심에 대한 파악이 필요하며 그것이 안정적으로 마무리될 것이라는 보장이 필요하다. 그러나 현행 교육과정을 검토하면 즐거움은 자동적으로 얻는 것이며 즉각적 반응의 즐거움과 종합 및 성찰의 즐거움은 서로 단절되어 있는 것으로 나타난다. 문학 교육에서 즐거움이 선언적인 수준을 극복하기 위해서는 학습자들의 반응에 대한 실증적인 연구와 구체적 과정의 설계가 보다 활성화되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore ways to actualize the concept of ‘interesting’ in the national curriculum of literature education(NCLE) based on the awareness that this concept remains declarative and abstract in NCLE. According to previous studies, ‘interesting’ can be understood in the form of quadrants by two principal axes：object for a horizontal axis and quality for a vertical one. The object axis has text itself at one point and readers' experience at the other whereas the quality axis has immediate response at one point and reflective response at the other. The concept of ‘Interesting’ in these quadrants is limited to be the one as a product. This study suggests to include concept of ‘Hovering and Exploring’ to extend our understanding of ‘interesting’ to the one as a process. Two practical suggestions can be made so as to make students enjoy the process of ‘Hovering and Exploring’; first, we need to pay more attention to students' needs and interests. Second, favourable environments need to be provided to ensure the process of ‘Hovering and Exploring’ in the national curriculum. However, NCLE views ‘interesting’ as the one actualized automatically. This view is based on the idea of separating the two concepts of ‘interest as immediate response’ and ‘reflective interest’. To extend the concept of ‘interesting’ beyond the abstract level in NCLE, we need more empirical studies on responses of students while reading literature. In addition, we need to develop ideas for how to implement the process of hovering and exploring in NCLE.
