국어 문법 교육에서의 의미 교육의 한계와 전망

국문 초록

이 논문은 국어 문법 교육에서 의미 교육이 갖는 한계를 살펴보고 의미 교육의 미래를 전망하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 현재 의미 교육의 주요한 한계는 국어과 교육 과정 문법 영역에서 다루고 있는 의미는 단어, 문장, 담화의 각 문법 층위의 의미가 단편적으로 제시되어 그 연관성이 잘 드러나지 않는다는 것이다. 이러한 문제점의 원인은 각 문법 단위로부터 연결된 단위의 의미가 도출되는 과정에 대한 고려가 부족했기 때문이다. 이는 피동·사동에 대한 실제 교육 내용에서도 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해서는 의미 체계가 각 문법 단위별 의미와 함께 이를 연결해 주는 의미 추론의 원리로 구성되어 있음을 인식할 필요가 있으며 이는 의미 체계의 주요한 특징이다. 의미 추론의 원리는 합성성의 원리와 담화상의 원리로 이루어져 있다. 그리고 더욱 발전적인 의미 교육으로 나아가기 위해서는 각 문법 단위별 의미와 의미 추론의 원리를 모두 국어 의미 교육의 교육 내용으로 삼아야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to investigate the problem of the meaning education in the Korean grammar education and to expect what the meaning education will be like. The main problem of the meaning education is that the present Korean grammar curriculum suggests the lexical meaning, the sentential meaning, and the discourse meaning without showing their correlations. The reason of this problem is that we did not consider enough the process of the meaning derivation from the lexical meaning to the sentential meaning, or from the sentential meaning to the discourse meaning. We can find the same limit in the actual educational contents about passives and causatives. In order to solve this problem, we should recognize that the semantic system is made up of the meaning of the grammatical units, such as words, sentences, and discourses, and the meaning inference principle. This is the main property of the semantic system. The meaning inference principle has the compositionality principle and the discourse principle. Also because the development of the meaning education requires, we should include both the meaning of the grammatical units and the meaning inference principle as the contents of the Korean meaning education curriculum.
