이공계 논문에 대한 텍스트언어학적 비평과 처방

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 이공계 논문의 ‘재료 및 방법, 결과 및 고찰, 요약(결론)’ 부분을 텍스트언어학적 관점에서 분석하고 그 문제점에 대한 해결책을 찾아보는 데 있다. 분석대상 논문의 ‘재료 및 방법, 결과 및 고찰, 요약(결론)’ 부분은 보그란데 & 드레슬러(1981)에 제시되어 있는 텍스트성을 판별하고 7가지 기준으로 분석해 본 결과 특히 응집성(cohesion)에서 문제가 많았고, 이것은 통일성에도 나쁜 영향을 주었다. ‘재료 및 방법’ 부분에서 텍스트성을 높이는 방법으로는 실험재료와 방법을 자세하게 명시할 뿐 아니라 용어를 일관성 있게 사용할 것, ‘실험방법’을 순서화하되 그 순서는‘결과 및 고찰’ 부분에서 살펴볼 그 순서와 일치되게 할 것, 논문 투고규정에 ‘국어규정과 국어문법에 맞게 문장을 작성해야 한다’는 말을 넣고 실제로 이것을 심사 규정에 반영할 것 등이 있다. ‘결과 및 고찰’ 부분에서 텍스트성을 높이는 방법으로는 이 부분의 각 절을 점층적으로 배치하고 후반부로 갈수록 핵심적인 내용을 서술할 것, 각 절이 ‘실험방법 서술→ 실험결과 제시 및 설명 → 실험결과의 해석 및 주장’과 같은 3단 구성이 되게 할 것등이 있다. 이공계 논문의 ‘요약(결론)’ 부분의 텍스트성을 높이는 방법은 1개의 단락으로 짧게 작성하되 ‘서론, 재료 및 방법, 결과 및 고찰, 결론적 주장’ 등 논문 전체 내용을 포함하게 하는 것이다. 그 외에, 적절한 각주 달기를 통한 상호텍스트성을 확보하는 것, 실험 내용을 설명하고 주장을 함에 있어서 적절하게 자료를 제시함으로써 정보성을 높이는 것, 명확한근거를 통해 주장을 함으로써 의도성을 확보하는 것, 독자들이 필자의 주장을 합리적으로 납득하게 함으로써 수용가능성을 높이는 것 등도 텍스트성을 높이는 중요한 요소라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze a few sections, namely “materials and methods,” “results and prescription,” and “summaries (conclusion),” of science and engineering paper from a text linguistic perspective and find solutions to the problem. After analyzing the “materials and methods,” “results and prescription,” and “summaries (conclusion)” sections of the target paper using the Seven Standards of Textuality defined by Beaugrande and Dressler (1981), we found that cohesion was a frequent problem, and it negatively impacted unity. In order to improve textuality in the “materials and methods” section, experimental materials and methods must be described in detail while using consistent text. In “experimental methods,” put in order respectively to how you will see in “results and prescription.” Additionally, in journal submission guidelines, it is important to “write sentences according to language regulations and grammar,” and examining based on regulation. To improve textuality in the “results and prescription” section, sections must be laid out in increments and describe the key point toward the end. Each verse should have three stages: “experimental method description,” “experimental result presentation and explanation,” and “experimental result interpretation and analysis.” The textuality in “summaries (conclusion)” can be improved by writing a brief paragraph that includes the primary information on the following aspects of the article: “introduction,” : “material and methods,” “results and prescription,” “concluding argument,” “etc.” Furthermore, it is important to obtain intertextuality by appropriate referencing, improve informativity by presenting appropriate data while explaining and defending the experiment, obtain intentionality with a clear rationale, and improve acceptability by making readers reasonably align with the writer’s argument. All the above also help to improve textuality.
