국문 초록

이 연구는 윤조병의 희곡 <이끼 낀 고향에 돌아오다>을 통해 작가의 ‘이념적 타자를 다루는 방식’에 대해 논구하고, 그 의미를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이 작품을 주목하는 이유는 그가 동시대 작가들이 보여주었던 분단인식, 혹은 태도와 구별되는 일면을 보여주고 있다고 생각했기 때문이다. 연구목적의 효과적인 달성을 위해 우선 같은 시기 발표되었던 반공극들에 나타나는 ‘지배적 재현방식’과 비교하였다. 이어 작품의 ‘극적 상황’ 설정과 ‘인물 구도’에 주목하였다. ‘극적 상황’의 특징은 ‘천주교 반공주의’ 대 ‘공산주의’라는 설정을 통해 이념적 타자를 재현하고 있다는 점을 확인하였다. 이는 작가가 한국전쟁 시기 역사적 사실에주목하면서 매우 치밀하고 폭넓은 관찰을 행했음을 의미한다. 작가의 사실주의 극작가로서의 면모를 보여주는 지점이다. ‘인물 설정’에서 드러나는 특징은 이념 지형 내에서 양극단을 넘어서는 ‘균형자’들을 등장시킨 점을 확인하였다. 이는 이념적 타자를 양극단에서 다루지 않게 함으로써이념적 경직성을 벗어나려는 태도라고 볼 수 있다. 이는 동시기 반공극과 대비되는부분이다. 나아가 이런 그의 ‘균형감’을 잃지 않으려는 태도는 이후 분단 문제에 주목한 90년대 극작품들에 인식적 모티브를 제공하였을 것으로 보았다. 이는 작가의 ‘이념적 타자를 다루는 방식’이 지닌 의의와 가치이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to discuss and analyze the meaning of “the method of dealing with the ideological other” through Yoon Jo-byeong’s play . The reason he focuses on this work is to portray a perspective that is distinguished from the perception or attitude of division that contemporary writers demonstrated. For the effective achievement of the research objectives, it was first compared with the “dominant representation paradigm” that appeared in divided plays that were released simultaneously. Subsequently, I focus on the “dramatic situation” setting and the “character composition” of the work. It was confirmed that the characteristic of the dramatic situation is that the ideological other is represented through the setting of “Catholic anti-communism” vs. “communism.” This can be attributed to his very detailed and extensive observation while highlighting the historical facts of the war period. This is a point that unveils his personality as a realist playwright. The characteristic revealed in “character setting” is the appearance of “balancers” that transcend the extremes within the ideological terrain. He attempts to escape ideological rigidity by not dealing with the ideological other at the extremes. This is in contrast to the anti-communism drama of the same period. His attitude not to lose his “balance” would have provided a cognitive motive to the dramas of the 1990s, which focused on the issue of division. Concurrently, this is the significance and value of his “method of dealing with the ideological other.”
