스완요(⽯湾窑)의 도자 유형별 제작 기법 연구

국문 초록

중국은 여러 지역의 도요지에서 오랜 기간 다양한 종의 도자를 생산해 왔다. 본 연구는 중국 남방의 전통 도요지인 스완요(石湾窑)에서 생산된 도자 유형을 재분류하고 각각의 제작 방법을 이론적으로 고찰하여 체계화하는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구자는 앞서 스완요의 건축 도자와 유약을 조사하고 후속 연구로 더욱 구체적이고 명확한 유형 분류와 제작 탐구를 계획한 바 있다. 이에 중국의 학자들에게 연구에 활용할 자료를 검증받아 객관성을 확보하였고 선행 연구와 현황을 기반으로 유형을 나누어 연구의 타당성을 획득하고자 하였다. 연구 방법은 먼저 스완요의 도자 유형을 기물과 조형으로 분류하여 변화 양상을 정리하였고, 현역 작가들의 제작을 사례로 유형별 단계 및 특징을 분석하였다. 연구 결과 스완요의 도자 기물 제작은 대량 생산과 대형 제조로 진화하여 중국 최대의 건축 도자 생산 단지 설립의 토대가 되었고, 도자 조형 기법은 사실적이고 생동감 있는 인물과 동물 표현, 작고 세밀한 형태의 산공 조각, 복잡한 제작 과정과 시각적 효과를 강조한 원림 건축 도자 장식 등으로 발전하며 점차 창작자의 개성을 중시하는 방향으로 변모하였음을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구가 중국 도자 연구의 다양성을 제공하는 동시에 전통 도자 기법을 다른 관점으로 해석하는 시도로 연결되어 학술 가치를 인정받길 기대한다.

영문 초록

Various kiln sites in China have produced various types of ceramics over a prolonged period of time. Given this context, the purpose of this study is to reclassify existing studies on the ceramics of Shiwan-a traditional kiln site located in southern China-and theoretically examine and systematize the production techniques used therein. Previously, the author investigated Shiwan’s architectural ceramics and glazing, and planned for the exploration of detailed and clear classification of types and production techniques as a follow-up study. Accordingly, the hypothesis and argument of the academic inquiries were verified by Chinese scholars to secure objectivity and the types were re-established based on previous studies, to obtain the validity of the study. As for the research method, the types of ceramics were first classified into objects and sculptures, after which the aspects were examined and the cases of production by artists were analyzed by dividing them into stages and characteristics. The results of the analysis showed that Shiwan’s ceramic object production technique became the basis for the establishment of China’s largest production of architectural ceramics as it evolved to a large-scale manufacturing site. Concurrently, the ceramic sculpture technique has developed into lively figures and animal expressions, small and detailed landscapes, and garden architectural ceramics emphasizing complex visual effects, gradually changing to emphasize the individuality of the creator. It is expected that this study will be recognized for its academic value as it provides a diversity of studies on Chinese ceramics and simultaneously attempts to interpret traditional ceramics techniques from a different perspective.
