국문 초록

지속가능한 디자인은 더 이상 일부 책임감을 갖은 디자이너에 한정되지 않고 모든 디자이너, 개발자, 소비자의 참여로 이루어야 하는 전 인류의 문제이다. 21세기 이후 지구의 온난화를 비롯한 여러 환경문제는 대량 생산과 대량 소비로 이루어진 경제 활동에 주목한 인류의 오판 때문이며 이것을 해결하는 방법으로 지속가능한 디자인에 대한 많은 방법론이 제시되고 있다. 연구자는 그간 제시된 지속가능 방식인 재사용(reuse), 감량화(reduce), 재활용(recycle), 새활용(up-cycle)등에서 벗어나 제품의 사용기간을 확장, 확보하여 원료의 소비를 줄이는 방식을 제안하려 한다. 생산과 소비에 대한 기초적인 과정을 이해하고 소비과정을 연장할 수 있는 사례를 조선시대 서민들의 지혜로운 소반 사용방식에서 찾고 분석한다. 이는 생산과 소비가 공존하는 기간을 통해 이루어지며, 사용자의 참여를 필요로 한다. 이 기간으로 전체 제품의 사용기간이 연장되어 원자재와 에너지의 절감 효과를 볼 수 있으며 사용자가 성취감과 만족감을 느낄 수 있게 한다. 함께 현재 사용되는 목제품에 적용할 수 있는 방법을 확인하고 지속가능한 디자인의 방식으로 제안하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Sustainable design is no longer limited to designers with some responsibility, but is a global issue that must be achieved with the participation of all designers, developers and consumers. Since the 21st century, various environmental problems, including global warming, are due to the misjudgment of mankind, who paid attention to economic activities consisting of mass production and mass consumption, and many methodologies for sustainable design are suggested as a way to solve this problem. The researcher intends to propose a method to reduce the consumption of raw materials by extending and securing the period of use of the product, out of the sustainable methods such as reuse, reduce, recycle, and up-cycle. The basic process of production and consumption can be understood and cases that can extend the consumption process are found and analyzed from the wise way of using ‘Soban’ by ordinary people in the Jo-seon Dynasty. This is done through a period in which production and consumption coexist and requires user participation. This period extends the period of use of the entire product, saving raw materials and energy, and users would feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. In addition, researcher would like to identify methods that can be applied to currently used wood products and propose a sustainable design method.
