전통도예기법의 변용과 확장성에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 전통문화의 미적가치와 조형미를 계승함과 동시에 창의적으로 발전시키는 것이 미래의 문화유산을 형성하는 기반이 된다는 인식에 기초하여, 전통도예기법을 활용하고 새로운 시도를 모색하는 현대도예작품들을 분석하면서 변용된 사례를 제시하였다. 전통도예기법이 현대도예에 적용된 사례와 범위를 기본으로 기법의 확장성과 변화의 가능성을 확인하고 전통기법의 현대화 과정에서 보여 지는 특징과 과제를 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 시문기법이 독특하여 다른 나라의 장식과 구별되는 상감기법을 중심으로 기법의 정의와 형성배경 등을 개략적으로 고찰하면서 문화 예술적 가치와 전통의 중요성을 상기시키고자 하였다. 주변국으로부터 전수된 기법이 아니라 독자적으로 발생한 장식기법이라는 면에서 고려인들의 창의성과 기술력의 소산임을 확인할 수 있다. 상감기법의 변용된 사례를 확인하면서 현대도예 작가들이 활용하고 있는 표현의 다양성과 확장성을 논하였으며, 상감기법을 어떻게 이해하고 작품에 응용하고 있는지를 제작방식의 차이와 특징을 살펴보면서 전통도예기법에 대한 변화와 가능성을 가늠해보았다. 이러한 변화의 과정이 전통으로 포장된 아류작으로 치부되지 않기 위해서는 전통과 기법에 대한 바른 이해와 연구가 선행되어야할 것이다. 전통에 대한 단순한 모방이나 답습의 과정이 아닌 전통의 내재된 가치를 현시대의 흐름과 변화에 적용하고 해석하려는 노력이 필요하며 이에 대한 냉정한 비판과 담론을 통해 시대적 패러다임을 만들어 새로운 문화를 견인하는 원동력으로 작용하길 바래본다. 소중한 문화와 전통을 계승함과 동시에 시대적 감성을 더하여 창의적인 변화를 만들고, 현대화된 기술의 시대적 특징을 보여줄 수 있는 작품들이 폭넓게 공존하며 발전할 때 새로운 전통과 역사를 이어 갈 수 있으리라 생각된다.

영문 초록

This study presented cases transformed cases, analyzing the contemporary works of ceramic art that utilize the traditional ceramic technique and make new attempts based on the perception that succeeding the aesthetic value and formative aesthetics of the traditional culture and developing it creatively would be the foundation for the formation of the cultural heritage in the future. This study would check on the expandability and changeability of the technique and investigate the characteristics and tasks of the traditional techniques in the process of modernization based on the examples and scope in which the traditional ceramic technique was applied to contemporary ceramics. Centering around the ‘inlay technique’ differentiated from the decoration of other countries with a unique pattern inscription technique, this study would roughly discuss the definition and background of the formation of the techniques to remind readers of the cultural and artistic values and the importance of the tradition. In that it is not a technique passed down from neighboring countries but a decoration technique that was generated independently, it was found that it is a product of the creativity and technology of the people of Goryeo. Checking the cases in which the inlay technique has been transformed, this study discussed the diversity and expandability of expressions utilized by contemporary ceramic artists and judged the changes and possibilities of the traditional ceramic technique, examining the differences and characteristics of manufacturing methods, concerning how they understand the inlay technique and apply that to their works. The correct understanding and research on the tradition and techniques should precede so that the process of these changes will not be considered imitation packaged as the tradition. It is necessary to make an effort to apply and interpret the value inherent in the tradition to contemporary trends and changes instead of the process of simple copying or imitation of the tradition. In addition, hopefully, the paradigm of the times would be made through sober criticism and discourse on this and would act as the driving force to lead a new culture. It is judged that a new tradition and history would continue when the precious culture and tradition are passed down and the sensibility of the times is added to make creative changes, and the works that can show the characteristics of the times of modern technology are developed by coexistence.
