보고서 수정하기에 대한 외국인 유학생과 교수자의 인식 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학 교양과정 보고서 쓰기 수업에서 수정하기에 대한 외국인 유학생과교수의 인식을 비교 분석하여,효과적인 지도 방법을 제안하는 데에 목적이 있다.연구대상은 글쓰기 담당 교수 12명과 글쓰기 과목 수강생 117명이고,연구방법은 수정하기에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 보고서 수정 시 우선 항목으로 유학생은 맞춤법과 문법과 같은 형태적인 측면을 공통적으로 선호했으나 교수자는 단락의 연결과 구성이나 주제에 대한 수정을 선호했다.수정 항목에 대한 중요도 조사 결과 초급 수준 유학생은 주제에 대한 독창성,객관성,창의적 사고력 등에 대해 교수나 중급 이상 학생보다 중요도를 낮게 인식했고 대신 정확한 문장을 위한 형태적인 항목에 대해서는 교수자보다 중요하다고 인식했다. 대학 보고서 쓰기 교육을 위해서는 교수자와 유학생의 수정하기에 대한 인식의 차이를 파악하고 유학생이 스스로 학문적 담화 공동체의 소통 방식으로 자신의 관점에서 보고서를 완성할 수 있는 수정하기 교육을 설계해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to comparatively analyze how foreign students and professors perceive revision in a report writing course, a liberal arts course in college, and suggest effective teaching methods. The subjects included 12 professors teaching writing and 117 students taking the writing course. A survey regarding their perceptions of revision, the following. Regarding what they revise first in reports and what they want revised by others, all foreign students preferred morphological aspects such as spelling and grammar, whereas the professors preferred to revise the connection and structure of paragraphs as well as the topic. With regard to the details of revision mostly pointed out by others and how often they adopted the revisions, a majority of beginner-level foreign students responded that the revisions mostly concerned the format of the report and the connection and structure of paragraphs. They said, they adopted 90–100% of the revisions. However, most intermediate-level foreign students responded that the revisions mostly concerned the grammar of the sentences and the connection and structure of the paragraphs, and that they accepted 30–60% of these revisions. The survey results on the importance of revised items showed that beginner-level foreign students considered the originality of the topic, objectivity, and creative thinking skills as less important than did professors or intermediateand higher-level students. Alternatively, they considered morphological items for precise sentences more important than the professors did. To teach report writing in college, it is imperative to identify the differences in the perceptions of revision between instructors and foreign students. Accordingly, a revision course must be designed to enable international students complete a report from their own perspective, based on the communication method of an academic discourse community.
