국문 초록

이 글은 조지훈 시에 드러난 근대성에 주목하여 그 양상과 의미를 파악하였다. 조지훈 시의 근대성은 근대를 한국적으로 수용하여 발현시킨 시적 양상을 보였다. 조지훈 시에서 전통은 근대에 창안된 시대적 요구였다. 전통은 민족의 정신적 기반으로서 민족의 결집을 가능하게 하였고, 나아가 민족의 정체성까지 확립시켰다. 근대의 전통은 당대 현실을 타개할 정신적 가치로서 민족 해방과 민족 국가 건설의 열망을 표출하는 기반이 되었다. 조지훈 시에서 자연은 근대의 폐해를 자각하는 공간이었다. 자연을 통한 근대에 대한 자각은 자연을 미적 대상으로서 수용했고, 이는 인간의 감각을 자극시켰다. 감각은 근대 자연의 관습화된 재현을 거부하고 현재에 맞는 사유를 가능하게 하였다. 조지훈 시에서 혁명은 자유민주주의를 현실에서 실현시키고자 하는 민중들의 주인의식에서 비롯된 당위적 가치였다. 혁명 정신은 선대에서부터 이어져온 혁명의 정신적 가치를 계승하였다. 혁명은 현실 질서를 확립하는 ‘한국적 근대’의 민중적이고 민족적인 가치였다.

영문 초록

This paper grasped its aspect and meaning by paying attention to the modernity that appeared in Cho Ji-hoon s poetry. The modernity that appeared in Cho Ji-hoon s poetry showed a poetic aspect of the Korean acceptance of modernity. In Cho Ji-hoon s poetry, tradition was a demand of the times created in the modern era. Tradition enabled the gathering of the nation as the mental foundation of the nation, and further established the identity of the nation. Modern tradition is a mental value that will overcome the reality of the time. It served as a foundation for expressing the desire for national liberation and nation-state construction. In Cho Ji-hoon s poetry nature is a space that recognizes the harmful effect of modern times. The awareness of modernity through nature accepted nature as an aesthetic object stimulated human senses. Senses rejected the customary representation of modern nature and made it possible to reason appropriate to the present. In Cho Ji-hoon s poetry, the revolution is a legitimate value derived from the sense of ownership of the people to realize liberal democracy in reality. The revolutionary spirit has inherited the spiritual value of the revolution that has been handed down from the predecessors. The revolution was the people and ethnic group value of the “Korean modern” that established the reality order.
