노인의 삶의 지지와 죽음불안에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 노인의 죽음불안에 영향을 미치는 요인을 밝히고 주요 영향요인인 사회적 유대, 가족건강성, 영적 안녕, 자아통합감에 따라 노인을 유형화하여 유형별 사회인구학적 특성 및 죽음 관련 특성, 그리고 죽음불안에 있어서의 차이를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구방법은 서울 및 경기지역에 거주하는 60세 이상의 노인을 유의표집하여 설문조사하였으며, 최종 530명의 자료를 통계분석에 이용하였다. 주요 연구결과 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인의 사회인구학적인 특성과 죽음관련 특성에 비해 노인의 삶의 지지요소인 사회적 유대, 가족건강성, 영적 안녕, 자아통합감이 노인의 죽음불안에 보다 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 노인의 사회적 유대, 가족건강성, 영적 안녕, 자아통합감 정도에 따라 유형을 분류한 결과 ‘전체적 원만형’, ‘신앙 중심형’, ‘자아통합 중심형’으로 구분되었다. 셋째, 유형에 따라 사회인구학적 특성, 죽음에 대한 대화상대 유무, 죽음에 대해 느끼는 불안정도에 있어 차이가 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 노인의 죽음불안에 대한 보다 적절한 개입방안을 마련하기 위해서는 죽음불안에 영향을 미치는 요인을 통합적ㆍ다차원적으로 접근해야 함을 시사해준다.

영문 초록

This study explored the determinant variables influencing death anxiety and relationships of general characteristics, death-related characteristics, support source(social connectedness, family health, spiritual well-being, and self integrity), and death anxiety. The data came from 530 elderly aged 60 and over living in Seoul and Kyunggi areas. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, support source(social connectedness, family health, spiritual well-being, and self integrity) variables more effect on the death anxiety than general characteristics and death-related characteristics. Second, types of support source by social connectedness, family health, spiritual well-being, and self integrity are classified into 3 types : ‘Whole support type’, ‘Religious belief focused type’, ‘Self integrity focused type’. Third, there are statistically significant differences in the general characteristics, companion death, and death anxiety among three support source types. These results suggested that arrange the multi-dimension and integrated welfare service for death anxiety.
