국문 초록

현재 사용되는 여자 7종경기의 채점표는 7가지 육상 경기를 골고루 잘하는 만능육상선수를 뽑는다는 취지에서 벗어나 심한 편의와 불공평한 결과를 제공하는 데, 트랙 경기가 필드 경기보다 훨씬 점수획득이 용이하며 그 차이는 심각할 정도이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현행 점수모형을 수정하여 공정성과 타당성이 배가된 여자 7종경기의 새로운 점수모형을 제안하며 적용한 결과 각 종목 점수의 평균, 표준편차, 분위수가 유사하며 또한 점수들은 정규분포를 따른다고 할 수 있기 때문에 현행 점수체계의 단점을 상당부분 극복하였다고 판단되어진다. 제안된 모형을 통하여 세계적인 수준의 선수기록을 재계산하였으며 그 결과 제안되는 점수체계는 현행 7종경기 점수체계에 약간의 변화를 주어서 합리성과 객관성을 갖게 해준다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

A heptathlon is a track and field athletics competition made up of 7 events (100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin throw, and 800m). The total score in a heptathlon is computed by summing the scores in all 7 events. In this paper we have shown that the current heptathlon scoring method suffers from severe bias and produces unfair outcomes. Sprinting events are overrated at the expense of throwing events. A new model for evaluating the heptathlon score has been applied that display uniform characteristics over all events in order to meet the notion of allroundness. This new scoring method is uniform over the events and support self-stabilization. We have recalculated the all time top 10 heptathlon world ranking and after, comparing with the scoring system using today, it is found that proposed scoring system not only has the property that the performance with same difficulty but also encourage improvement in performance.
