도시와 농촌지역 간의 인구구조 비교 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 도시와 농촌간의 인구구조의 변천과정을 살펴보고, 특히 농도이면서 인구문제를 가장 심각하게 앓고 있는 전북지역을 사례로 인구구조 변화의 특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과에 의하면, 도농 간의 인구분포 및 인구구조 불균형현상은 1990년부터 더욱 심화되고 있다. 1985년부터 농촌의 유소년인구 비중이 상대적으로 도시보다 급속하게 낮다. 농촌의 고령인구비중은 1990년부터 도시지역보다 2∼3배 이상 높아졌다. 집중계수와 변화-할당분석에 의한 전북의 인구구조의 특성을 파악한 결과, 도시와 농촌지역 모두가 상대적으로 인구 과소화 현상이 진행되어 왔다. 도시지역에서의 0∼14세와 15∼60세 계층의 집중계수는 대부분 0.5 미만 수준이었다. 한편 농촌지역에서는 0∼14세의 집중계수는 지난 35년간 계속 하락하여 2005년에는 0.1로 나타났다. 전북의 농촌인구감소는 1970∼2005년 전 기간에 걸쳐서 전국적인 인구증감효과가 상당히 큼에도 불구하고 전국적인 농촌인구감소 효과와 전북농촌과 전북지역이 갖는 고유의 지역적 특성효과의 영향으로 항상 크게 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study examines the transition process and the structural changes in the Korean population between the rural and the urban in 1970∼2005. The emphasis is placed on analysing how changes in the population of Jeonbuk province has been proceed with region and the rural. The results of the analysis are as the following. The rising demand for labor forces in manufacturing industries led to heavy migration from the rural areas to the urban areas. The results of the urbanization shows that about 10 million people (400,000 per year) from the rural sector migrated to the urban areas during the period 1960∼80. The pace of urban migration was high in the late 1970s, gaining momentum in the late 1980s, to about 500,000 people at the present time. Such structural changes in population are generally experienced in many developed countries. But the case of Korea implies overheated structural transformation over the last three decades. The period of time taken for the adjustment process in the society was very short and its pace compared with most industrialized societies was very speedy. The interregional movement of physical and human resources in the process of structural transformation has been quite painful and high social costs to pay.
