자극과 반응양상 부합성이 선택적 대상-기반 주의에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 자극들의 세부 속성들에 주의를 기울이도록 하는 선택적 대상-기반 주의(object-based selective attention)에 자극과 반응 양상 부합이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 함이다. 이를 위해서 자극들의 표상 정보는 공간 정보로 동일하도록 하되, 양상은 서로 상이하도록 구성하여 표적자극과 방해자극을 서로 교환하는 형태와 반응 양상에 변화를 주는 형태에서 과제 수행에 대한 반응시간을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 실험 1과 2 모두에서 표적자극의 양상과 반응 양상이 서로 부합되는 경우에는 방해자극이 과제 수행에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타난 반면, 서로 부합되지 않는 경우에는 방해자극과 표적자극의 표상 정보의 일치여부에 따라 각각 촉진 또는 간섭현상이 나타났다. 이는 목표에 따라 취해야 할 정보와 과제에서 요구되는 반응 양상이 서로 부합되는 경우 유사한 정보에 의한 간섭을 배제시킬 수 있음을 시사하는 것이며, 유사 정보들에 의한 간섭 현상을 나타내는 스트룹 효과에도 양상에 따른 영향을 적용할 수 있음을 시사하는 결과이다.

영문 초록

This study examined the effect of stimulus and response modality compatibility on object-based selective attention which requires the attention to properties of stimulus. Response time(RT) was measured by changing a target and a distracter and by changing the response modality, in turn. In the task, representation of stimuli was same(spatial representation), but modality of stimuli was different(visual and auditory). According to the results of both experiment 1 and 2, when the modality of target was congruent with that of response, the distracter didn t affect task performances. On the other hand, when the modality of target was incongruent with that of response, the distracter facilitated task performances on the condition that information of the target and the distracter was same, and interfered with task performances on the condition that information of the target and the distracter was different. It is suggested that the interference of distracter s information would eliminated from target performances on the condition that the modality of target information was congruent with that of response, and then we could apply effects of stimulus and response modalities to Stroop effect which means interferences of relevant information.
