한류 드라마 제목의 아랍어번역 양상연구

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze 100 pairs of Korean and Arabic drama titles using data analyzed the original and translated titles of Korean and Arabic dramas released from 2002 to 2020, according to five translation methods, namely; Literary translation, Translation by Substitution, Rewriting by explicitation, Creative translation, Translation by Generalization. The analysis shows that the Literary translation stood at 49% and the Rewriting translation stood at 21% and Creative translation stood at 21%, Translation by Substitution stood at 5%, and Translation by Generalization stood at 4%. The Research finding shows that the five translation techniques are affected by a translator s adjustment using by expliciation and domestication for narrowing cultural gaps, reflecting language usage of Modern Standard Arabic and English sub-titles and OSTs in English. Some educational proposals are suggested; for example, five translation methods are proposed in teaching Korean-Arabic translation by introducing drama title translation.
