중국 미인 소재 시가의 존재 양상과 문학적 함의

국문 초록

본고는 조선조 말과 일제강점기에 걸쳐 향유되어 온 중국 미인 소재 시가, 즉 가사 우미인가, 양귀비가와 잡가 왕소군원탄의 존재 양상과 주제에 대한 검토를 통해 그 변이와 문학적 함의를 해명하고자 하였다. 우미인과 왕소군, 양귀비와 관련된 역사서나 연의소설 등에서는 여성이 사건 전개의 객체이자 부수적 존재로 서술되고 있음에 비해 중국 미인 소재 시가에서는 여성들이 사건 전개의 주체이자 주동적 존재로 서술되고 있다. 또한 운명의 갑작스러운 변화로 인한 여성의 비극이 고발되고, 여성의 운명을 일방적으로 결정하여 비극에 이르게 한 가부장제의 폐해와 행복한 일상을 파괴하는 시대의 폭력이 비판되고 있다. 변이의 양상으로는 향유층이 변화하고 새로운 매체가 등장하여 타갈래 사설을 직접적으로 인용하면서 서사적 전개의 상충이나 서술 내용 변화가 일어났으며, 타갈래 작품에도 영향을 미쳐 새로운 향유 수단을 활용하는 작품의 등장과 서술 형식의 변화, 서술 내용의 변화가 일어났다. 조선조 말에서 일제강점기에 이르는 동안 등장하여 널리 향유된 중국 미인 소재 시가는 소외되어 왔던 여성 주체의 형상화를 통해 당대 여성들의 문제를 고발하고, 여성과 서민의 삶을 뿌리 채 흔드는 당대의 현실을 형상화하였으며, 전근대 문학의 향유가 지속되는 가운데 근대적 향유 매체의 등장과 갈래간 교섭을 통해 전근대문학이 근대문학으로 전환하는 데 기여하였다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the aspects of existence and themes to shed light on the variations and literary implications in the Chinese poems dealing with female beauties, including Umiinga (Song of Yu Miaoyi), Yanggwibiga (Song of Yang Guifei) and other japga, which were enjoyed from the end of Joseon Dynasty throughout the Japanese colonial era. Historical records of fictions related to Yu Miaoyi, Wang Zhaojun or Yang Guifei describe these women as the objects and passive characters of unfolding events. In the Chinese poetry of female beauties, however, they are described as subjects and active actors of the development of events. Moreover, as the poems unfold the tragedies that befell these women with a sudden turn of fate, they also criticize the violence of an era that ruined happy lives and the destructive patriarchy life that led to tragedy by unilaterally determining the women s fate. With changes in readers’ groups and the emergence of new kinds of media, changes in the contents also occurred so as to reflect the readers’ new inclinations, embody their new historical situation and meet their tastes. In addition, narrative development conflicted with the quotations from poetry of different genres. As works emerged that were based on the contents of the Chinese poetry of female beauties or utilizing new media, they also and gave rise to new contents while influencing the different genres. The Chinese poems on beautiful women, which appeared and were widely enjoyed from late Joseon throughout the Japanese occupation, brought light to women-related issues of the time by portraying the female subject that had been hitherto marginalized and embodied the realities of the time that struck the lives of women and the common people. In that sense, pre-modern literature ensured the transition to modern literature with the emergence of modern entertainment media and the negotiations of opinions.
