소설 ｢수라도｣에 나타난 가야의 정신적 유산 찾기

국문 초록

본고는 ｢수라도｣의 가야부인이 겪는 3가지 고통과 가야의 문화적·내재적 유사성을 바탕으로 김정한의 ｢수라도｣를 재고하고자 한다. 첫째, 가야의 불교와 가야부인의 종교적 연관성에 주목해 보았다. 가야의 종교가 샤먼에서 불교로 대체되듯이, 허 진사 댁에서는 오봉 선생의 유교를 가야부인의 불교로 전환하는 과정을 겪는다. 가야부인의 이타적인 사랑과 불교의 가피사상은 ｢수라도｣에서 가야부인을 부처와 흡사하게 제시되었다. 둘째, 일본(왜)와의 관계를 ｢수라도｣에서는 주변인의 대응방식으로 나타내었다. 가야 이주민들은 주변국의 침범으로 국운이 점차 쇠퇴하자, 주변국에 의해 흡수·통합되어 소멸하였고, 일부는 당시의 정치적 입지로 인해 스스로 변질되어갔다. 김정한의 ｢수라도｣에서는 허 씨 집안과 이와모도 집안이라는 일제강점기 대표적인 두 집안을 통해 허 씨 집안처럼 일본에 저항하면 가문의 쇠락을 보여주고, 이와모도 집안처럼 일본에 흡수, 변절하면 출세의 길로 접어드는 것을 사실적으로 보여주었다. 셋째, 가야 여인 허황옥과 가야 부인의 현실인식을 살펴보았다. ｢가락국기｣에서 엿볼 수 있는 허황옥은 의전의 문제를 지적하고, 자녀에게 자신의 성을 이어받게 하는 등 가야 왕실 내 여성의 입지를 공고히 하였다. ｢수라도｣의 가야부인 또한 고전적인 여인상에서 허 씨 집안의 가장으로 변모하는 과정을 담고 있다. 허황옥과 가야부인을 주체성을 가진 여성의 출현으로 볼 때, 현실에 타협하지 않고 부계위주의 제도와 관습이 묶이기 않은 진취적이고 개방적인 현실의식을 엿볼 수 있는 대목인 것이다. 지금까지 경남 지역을 기반으로 형성되었던 가야와 현대소설 ｢수라도｣의 비교를 통해 가야 문화와 그 정신세계를 이해하고, ｢수라도｣라는 현대소설사적 흐름을 이해하는 데 가야 문화가 동력이 되었다는 사실을 확인할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This paper intends to reconsider Kim Jeong-han s ｢Surado｣ based on the three pains that Lady Gaya suffers from ｢Surado｣ and the cultural and intrinsic similarities of Gaya. First, we focused on the religious connection between Kaya s Buddhism and Lady Gaya. Just as Gaya gives Shaman s place to Buddhism, HeoJinsa s family undergoes the process of converting Mr. O Bong’s Confucianism into Lady Gaya s Buddhism. Lady Gaya s altruistic love and Buddhist Gapi(加被) idea-The idea that Buddha or Bodhisattva gives people strength-were presented Lady Gaya similar to buddha in ｢Surado｣. Second, the relationship with Japan(倭) was expressed as a way of responding to marginal men in ｢Surado｣. When the nation s fortune gradually declined due to the invasion of neighboring countries, Gaya s settlers was absorbed and integrated into the neighboring countries and disappeared, and some of them were transformed by their political status at the time. Kim Jeong-han s ｢Surado｣ shows two facts through two representative families during the Japanese colonial rule. One, like heo family, if you resist Japan, your family will fall. The other, like the Iwamoto family, if you are absorbed in and transformed into Japan, you will go the way of success. Third, we examined the perception of reality of Gaya women Heo Hwang-ok and Lady Gaya. In ｢Karakkukki(駕洛國記)｣, Heo Hwang-ok pointed out ritual problems and strengthened the status of women in the Gaya royal family, including inheriting their surnames to children. Lady Gaya of ｢Surado｣ also involves the process of transforming from a classic female figure into the patriarch of Heo s family. If we see Heo Hwang-ok and Lady Gaya as the emergence of a woman with subjectivity, this is a point where we can see an enterprising and open reality consciousness that is not compromised by reality and is not tied to the system and customs. It is expected that through the comparison of Gaya and modern novel ｢Surado｣based on the Gyeongnam region, it will be possible to understand Gaya culture and its spiritual world and contribute to completing the historical flow of modern novel ｢Surado｣.
