신경림의 시집 『농무』의 리미널리티 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 신경림의 시집 『농무』에 나타난 리미널리티를 연구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 『농무』는 도시와 농촌의 문화가 혼종된 지역을 토포스의 대상으로 삼고 있다. 그 혼종의 주체들이 겪고 있는 공간에서의 문제와 그 대응 방법을 『농무』는 보여주고 있다. 이 연구는 그러한 환경에 대한 특정한 계층(하층민)의 적응 양식을 리미널리티(전이성, 전이영역)의 관점으로 분석하려고 한다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해서 이 연구는 첫째, 기존의 신경림 문학 연구에서 드러난 난점과 한계를 살펴보고 둘째, 혼종 지역의 생성과 발달 역사를 전개하여 『농무』의 토포스에 반영하고, 셋째 『농무』의 각 작품에 나타난 리미널 현상을 연구하고 넷째, 글쓰기에서 리미널리티가 어떠한 방법으로 표현되고 독자에게 수용되는가를 규명한다. 리미널리는 개인이나 집단이 변화의 위기에 직면했을 때 그 해소 방법으로 궁구되는 제의나 축제나 놀이 등을 의미한다. 이 리미널리티를 통해서 개체나 집단은 위기 이전의 안정된 삶을 위기 이후에도 지속할 수 있는 초월적인 인식을 부여받는다. 『농무』는 사전적으로는 ‘농민이 추는 춤’을 의미한다. 이 연구가 기존의 연구에서 놓치고 있는 이 ‘춤’의 사회학과 문학의 접점 지점에 다가가기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate liminality in the collection of Sin Gyeong-rim’s Poetry Farmers’ Dance. Farmers’ Dance is concerned with an area where urban and rural cultures are mixed as the subject of topos. Farmers’ Dance shows the problems the subjects of the hybridity experience in the space and the methods for coping with the problems. This study would analyze the style of adaptation by a specific class (lower class people) to the environment from the perspective of liminality (transferability, transition area). To achieve this purpose, this study would first investigate the challenges and limitations revealed in the existing studies of Sin Gyeong-rim’s literature; second, develop the history of the formation and development of the hybrid area to reflect that in the topos of Farmers’ Dance; third, examine the liminal phenomenon in each work of Farmers’ Dance; and fourth, reveal how liminality is expressed in writing and accepted by readers. Liminality means a ritual, festival, or play investigated as a method for resolution when an individual or group comes across a crisis of change. Through this liminality, the individual or group is given transcendental awareness by which the stable life before the crisis can be continued even after that. Farmers’ Dance refers to “the dance danced by farmers” by a dictionary definition. Hopefully, this study would approach the point of contact between sociology and literature of this “dance,” which is missed by the preceding studies.
