국문 초록

이 논문은 식민지시기 김태준과 임화의 지적협력을 ｢신문학사｣와 『증보 조선소설사』와의 겹쳐읽기를 통해 확인하는 한편, 그들의 문화론에서의 결론이 해방후 민족문화론의 전제로 작용하는 양상에 주목했다. 김태준·임화는 조선의 문화유산에 대한 협력적 탐구를 통해 문학에 국한되지 않는 역사적 시야를 확보하고 문화 정체성 일반에 대한 논의로 나아갔다. 기존연구가 학예사의 출판활동에 집중하거나, 주로 가능성의 지시에 머물렀던 지점에서 더 나아가 ｢춘향전｣과 ｢장화홍련전｣을 중심으로 텍스트 분석을 통해 양자의 지적협력의 구체적 양상을 해명했다. 이 과정을 통해 『조선소설사』와 ｢신문학사｣의 관련양상이 보다 명료하게 드러났다. 그들의 지적협력은 제국대학 아카데미즘과 민간학술사회의 중첩이라는 식민지 학술장의 성격을 잘 보여주는 사례이기도 했다. 김태준과 임화의 협업은 단순히 두 지식인의 만남에 국한되는 것이 아닌, 선행연구와의 대화적 작업을 통해 문학연구의 지평을 넓히며 성과의 축적을 도모하는, 일종의 학계의 재생산구조를 확립하는 작업이었다. 그들이 확보한 문화에 대한 시각은 해방후 민족문화 기획의 근간이 되었다. 임화와 김태준은 각기 역할을 분담하여 민족문화 기획을 집필했고, 그것은 이론층위부터 실현방침까지를 포괄하고 있는 것이었다. 그러한 기획은 정세로 인하여 실현될 수 없었고, 김태준과 임화 또한 비극적 최후를 맞게 된다.

영문 초록

This paper focuses on the intellectual cooperation that Kim Tae-joon and Im Hwa in colonial period showed in cultural theory and how it acts as a premise of national cultural theory after liberation. They secured a historical perspective that is not limited to literature through collaborative exploration of Chosun’s cultural heritage, and went on to discuss cultural identity in general. In addition, the existing research focused on the publishing activities or mainly stayed in the direction of possibility, and further clarified the specific aspects of the bilateral intellectual cooperation through text analysis centering on Chunhyangjeon(춘향전) and Janghwahongryeonjeon(장화홍련전). Through this process, the related aspects of Korean Historia Novella(조선소설사) and New literature hitsory(신문학사) were revealed more clearly. Their intellectual cooperation was also an example of the nature of the colonial academic field of the superposition of Imperial University academy and media-based academic society. Their view of culture became the basis of national culture planning after liberation. Imhwa and Kim Tae-joon shared their roles and wrote a national culture plan, which encompassed everything from the theoretical level to the realization policy. Such a project could not be realized due to the situation, and Kim Tae-joon and Im Hwa also have a tragic end.
