헝가리혁명의 수용과 냉전인식의 동요

국문 초록

이 글은 냉전문화사의 관점에서 헝가리혁명과 연관된 일련의 정치·문화적 현상을 살펴봄으로써 분단체제의 현실에서 남한의 제3세계적 정체성이 ‘탈냉전’ 담론과 접속하는 점을 살핀다. 헝가리혁명은 냉전체제의 사고인 ‘안보-평화’론의 빗장을 열고 ‘평화-혁명’의 열기를 수용함으로써 탈식민의 상상력을 자기증명하게 만드는 역할을 수행했다고 할 수 있다. 2차 세계대전을 전후로 소련발 평화론이 비등한 가운데 세계적인 호응을 얻었으나 남한은 북한과 달리 세계적인 평화연대에 동참하지 않았다. 이와 달리 적성국에서 일어난 헝가리혁명은 냉전체제 남한에서 이례적으로 큰 호응을 얻은 세계사적 사건이라는 의미를 지닌다. 반소·반공이라는 안보의 틀에서 확고한 진영론에 놓여있었음에도 불구하고, 헝가리혁명은 식민지에서 독립한 동북아시아 국가들의 ‘평화-혁명’론의 흐름 속에서 ‘자유’와 민족주의적 독립의 기치로 국제적인 연대의 감수성을 이끌어냈다. 남한에서는 헝가리혁명의 와중에 이루어진 국제펜클럽의 요청에 한국본부가 즉각 응답하여 『항가리 悲歌』를 펴냈고, 얼마 뒤 김춘수는 ｢부다페스트에서의 소녀의 죽음｣으로 헝가리혁명을 재소환했다. 이 글은 이러한 일련의 흐름 속에서 남한이 헝가리혁명을 수용한 맥락을 살피면서 냉전체제의 산물인 ‘안보-평화’의 인식론이 ‘평화-혁명(론)사의 맥락에서 일시적으로 해체되는 현상을 짚어보려는 시도이다.

영문 초록

This study looks into the connection point between the Third World identity of South Korea under the reality of division system and discourse of ‘Post-cold War’ while it examines a series of political and cultural phenomena associated with the Hungarian Revolution from the perspective of Cold War cultural history. The Hungarian Revolution performed a role for the imagination of Post Colonization to have self-proving, by unlatching the door of ‘Anbo-Peace’ theory which is the thought of Cold War system and accepting the heat of ‘Peace-revolution’. Before and after the World War II, while the peace theory from the Soviet Union was boiling and gained a positive worldwide response, South Korea did not participate in the global peace solidarity unlike North Korea. Unlike that, the Hungarian Revolution occurred in enemy country was a world historical events which was highly acclaimed in South Korea. Despite the fact that it was solidly placed in the security framework of counter-soviet and anti-communism, the Hungarian Revolution elicited the sensitivity of international solidarity as a banner of ‘liberty’ and nationalistic independence in the flow of ‘Peace-revolution’ theory among the independent Northeast Asian countries from colonies. During the Hungarian Revolution, the Headquarters in South Korea immediately responded to the request of the International Pen Club and released Hungary Sonata and, before long, Kim Chunsu recalled the Hungarian Revolution by the “Girl’s Death in Budapest”. This article is an attempt to examine the context in which South Korea embraced the Hungarian Revolution in this series of flows and to address the phenomenon in which the epistemology of ‘Anbo-Peace’ as the product of the Cold War was temporarily dismantled in the context of peace-revolution (theory) history.
