국문 초록

이 연구는 노년층 연령간 세대 내의 디지털 정보격차 변화양상의 종단적 추이에 대한 실증적, 기술적 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 한국정보통신정책연구원 주관하에 실시되고 있는 한국미디어패널조사의 2010년부터 2018년까지의 원시 데이터를 활용해서 만 55세 이상 노인 응답 패널을 더 세분된 4개의 연령집단으로(55-64세, 65-74세, 75-84세, 85세 이상) 나누어 디지털 미디어 접근성, 디지털 미디어 역량, 디지털 미디어 활용의 변화를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 특별히 인구사회학적 요인 외에도 스마트폰 보유 요소의 영향력을 파악하고, 디지털 접근성, 역량, 그리고 활용의 관계성을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 노년층 연령집단 내부에 격차가 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. 모든 연령집단에서 지속적인 성장 추세를 보이는 디지털 미디어 접근성을 확인하였고, 모든 네 연령집단을 아울러 스마트폰 접근성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요소는 교육 및 소득 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 정책적 배려 및 제도 마련이 필요함을 시사한다. 반면, 디지털 역량과 활용 추이 변화에서는 55-74세 집단과 75세 이상 집단 사이의 격차가 상대적으로 두드러지는 현상이 관찰됐으며, 스마트폰 보유와 디지털 역량의 상호작용이 노인들의 디지털 활용에 긍정적인 영향이 있음을 발견하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the longitudinal trends regarding digital divide among different age groups within the older adults. Using a 9 years of Korean media panel survey data from 2010 to 2018 provided by Korean Information Society Development Institute, the study attempted to understand the trends of digital media access, literacy, and uses among four different age groups of older adults (55-64, 65-74, 75-84, above 85 years old). In addition to the socio-demographic factors, the panel analysis examined the influence of variable of smartphone possession as well as the relationships among digital media access, literacy, and uses. The results of the analysis showed that there was a subtle difference among different age groups of older adults. The continuous improvement was found for the digital access across all age groups and the level of education and income were two strongest predictors for the smartphone digital access. This implies for the social policy is necessary to solve the digital divide among older adults. The significant different was found between 55-74 and over 75 and older age groups for their digital literacy and uses. Finally, the results showed the strong positive interaction effects of
