국문 초록

본 연구는 교란자극 속에 포함된 표적자극의 방향에 대한 계열적 탐색 수행이 운전자의 연령대와 성별에 따라 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 실험참가자의 연령대는 55세 이하의 중년운전자 집단과 65세 이상의 고령운전자 집단으로 구분하였고, 각 연령대 집단 안에서는 성비를 유사한 수준으로 유지하였다. 실험자극은 화살표 안에 숫자가 기입된 표적자극과 직사각형 안에 숫자가 기입된 교란자극들로 구성하였고, 실험참가자들에게 화살표 안에 기입된 숫자의 순서대로 화살표의 방향에 해당하는 키보드상의 화살표키를 가능한 신속하고 정확하게 누르도록 지시하였다. 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전반적으로 보면 표적자극의 수가 증가할수록, 중년운전자 집단보다는 고령운전자 집단에서, 그리고 남성운전자 집단보다는 여성운전자 집단에서 과제완성 시간이 더 느렸다. 둘째, 각 연령대 집단별로 표적자극의 수와 성별의 효과를 분석한 결과 중년운전자 집단에서는 표적자극의 수와 성별 사이의 상호작용 효과가 유의하지 않았던 반면 고령운전자 집단에서는 표적의 수가 증가할수록 성별에 따른 과제완성 시간에서의 차이가 더 크게 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 공간적 의미를 갖는 정보에 대한 시각탐색 및 반응선택에 운전자의 연령대와 성별의 효과가 통합적으로 영향을 미친다는 것을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the difference in serial search for directional stimuli among drivers’ age groups and gender. The drivers’ age groups were consisted of two groups of drivers between ages of under 55 years and over 65 years, where gender ratio was maintained. Experimental stimuli were consisted of distracters (rectangles with numbers) targets (arrows with numbers), and the drivers were required to search the targets in serial order based on the numbers. Task completion times were measured and analyzed as the dependent variable. The results are followings. First, in general, task completion times were delayed more in the old-age group than in the middle-age group, female drivers than male drivers, and as the number of targets were increased. Second, a significant interactive effect between gender and the number of targets on task completion times was found in the old-age group, which implied that the amount of increase in delay of task completion was larger among the female drivers than the male drivers as the number of targets was increased. The results suggested that drivers’ age and gender affect interactively on serial search for directional stimuli.
