장기 해외봉사자의 진로전환 과정에 관한 근거이론 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 진로전환의 측면에서 장기 해외봉사자의 봉사활동경험을 귀국 이후 진로 선택의 전 과정에 걸쳐 확장적으로 이해하고, 진로전환 과정에서의 맥락적, 중재적 조건을 분석함으로써 성공적 진로전환 지원체계를 제언하는 것이다. 연구 참여자는 코이카 일반봉사단으로 2년간 해외봉사활동을 수행하고 귀국한 10명의 귀국단원이며, 반구조화된 질문지 를 활용한 심층면담으로 자료를 수집하였다. Strauss와 Corbin의 근거이론 방법을 활용하여 분석한 결과, 96개의 개념, 35개의 하위범주, 14개의 범주를 도출하였다. 중심현상은 ‘고군분투 속 발현되는 잠재력과 자아성장’으로 나타났으며, 핵심범주는 ‘축적된 역량 차별화를 통한 신(新) 진로개척’으로 도출되었다. 전공과 국제개발협력 분야의 호환성 및 진로전환의 방향성을 고려하여 ‘전공 융합형’, ‘대안 창 출형’, ‘진로 창의형’ 이라는 진로전환 유형이 분류되었다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 장기 해외봉사자들이 경험하는 두 번의 진로전환 중 제 1전환기에서는 봉사자의 역량에 적합한 업무배치와 국제개발협력 역량증진을 위한 교육・훈련 프로그램의 병행을, 제 2전환기에서는 장기 해외봉사에 대한 한국사회의 인식변화와 정착지원시스템의 적합성 향상 필요성을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the experience of long-term overseas volunteers in terms of career transition and in an extended way throughout the course of career choice after returning to Korea.96 The research participants are 10 volunteers who returned from overseas volunteer work for two years and collected data through in-depth interviews using semi-structured questionnaires. This study applied the grounded theory method by Strauss & Corbin and in open coding, 96 concepts, 35 subcategories, and 14 categories emerged from the data. The Central phenomenon was ‘The expressing potential and self-growing in thestruggle alone’ and the Core category was New career path improvement through accumulated competency differentiation . Also, the career transition of long-term overseas volunteers has been classified as career convergence type, Alternative generative type and career creativity type. Through this study, we derived the support services and social and policy suggestions for a successful career transition after the return of long-term overseas volunteers.
