‘피로사회’ 속 보육교사의 목소리 내기

국문 초록

현대사회는 성취와 성과를 중시한다. 이러한 능력주의의 원리는 이 시대를 살아가는 현대인들의 의식 세계와 사회제도에 깊이 뿌리내리고 있다. 성과를 매우 중시하는 현대 사회에서 많은 동시대를 살아가는 사람들은 더 좋은 성과를 내기 위해서 매일 매일 피로를 무릅쓰고서라도 일을 해내는 너무나도 피곤한 삶을 살고 있다. 한병철(2012)은 ‘규율사회’에서 ‘성과사회’로 현대사회의 변화를 말하고 있다. 과거 자본주의 사회에서는 어떤 것을 ‘해서 안 된다’ 또는 ‘해야 한다’고 강요하는 것으로 타인을 착취했다면, 현대를 살아가는 사람들은 무엇이든지 ‘할 수 있다’는 ‘긍정성’에 매달려 지쳐서 쓰러질 때까지 스스로를 착취하고 있다고 말하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 한병철(2012)이 말하는 피로사회, 성과주의, 자기착취 등의 개념이 보육교사와 어떠한 연관성이 있는가를 탐색한다. 특히 보육교사들의 좋은 교사가 되기 위한 완벽주의, 자기 자신과 주변으로부터의 지나친 기대, 과잉긍정성, 과도한 자기비판 등의 특성이 어떻게 피로사회가 요구하는 성과주의로부터 보육교사를 위험하게 만들 수 있는가를 말하고자 한다. 또한 최근 사회현상에서 많이 이슈가 되고 있는 보육교사들의 자살에 관한 이슈가 피로사회의 성과주의와 어떻게 구조적으로 밀접하게 관련되어있는가를 살펴보고자 한다. 끝으로 본 연구는 깊은 심심함, 중단하는 본능. 머뭇거리는 능력, 사색적 삶의 복원, ‘아니오’ 라고 말할 수 있는 힘 등 보육교사의 피로사회 극복을 위한 몇 가지 방안을 제시한다. 모두 달리고 있는 경주에서 혼자만 느리게 걷는 것을 망설이지 말라는 한병철(2012)의 이야기는 우리들에게 속도가 아니라 방향이중요한 것이라고 전달하고 있다. 그러므로 이 시대의 보육교사에게 필요한 것은 간절한 사색의 기회인 것이다.

영문 초록

Achievement and performance are considered as the best value in modern society. Meritocracy is deeply rooted in modern society’s system and comtemporary humans’s consciousness. In this society, there are many people who try to produce good results and that makes themselves tired and gets tired of their lives. HAN Byung-Chul(2012), who is author of Fatigue Society(Müdigkeitsgesellschaft), points out that modern society has been changed from a “regulatory society” to a “performance society(achievement-driven society)” He insists that people in the capitalist society had exploited others to do what they “should” or “should not” However, people in the modern society had constrained themselves to believe “you can do anything” by self-exploitation until they are worn out because of “over-positivity” This study explored what connections to the concepts by Han(2012); fatigue society, performance society, self-exploitation and early childhood teachers. Especially, this paper discussed what makes early childhood teachers a high risk group in modern society called fatigue society under perfectionism towards a good teacher, high expectations from themselves and others, over-positivity, excessive self-criticism, and so on. In addition, this study is dealt with the correlation between the issue of committing suicide of early childhood teachers and the social structure of performance society. Also, this paper suggested the way to overcome fatigue society that in-depth boredom, a will to discontinue and hesitate, recovery of a life of meditation, and courage to say ‘No’ Direction is so much more important than speed. Therefore, early childhood teachers need a chance of meditation.
