하루키 소설의 판타지와 복잡계의 패러다임

국문 초록

본고는 한국사회에서 무라카미 하루키의 『해변의 카프카』와『기사단장죽이기』를 복잡계 이론으로 설명하고자 한다. 21세기 복잡성의 사회에서는 구성 요소들이 상호작용을 주고받은 결과가 요소들을 따로 떼어놓고 봤을 때와는 사뭇 다른 질서가 비일비재하게 나타난다. 이 세계는 인간 단독의 공간이 아니다. 가장 멀리 떨어져 있고 가장 상이한 것을 연결하는 자연적이고 눈에 띄지 않는 관계가 세계를 유지하는 사물중심의 세계이다. 이러한 인식은 그간 인간이 배제했던 사물ㆍ이미지ㆍ개념ㆍ동물 등 모든 것을 동시에 고려하는 사물중심의 사회학으로 나아간다. 하루키의『해변의 카프카』와『기사단장죽이기』에는 복잡계적 사유에 기반한 서브컬처와 스노비즘, 사물중심의 하이브리드적 경향이 선명하게 포착된다. 본고는 한국사회에서 하루키의 소설이 열광적으로 소비되는 이유를 복잡성의 세계로 이행하는 한국사회의 상황 변화에서 찾고자 한다. 디지털 디바이스의 개인화, 웹기반 플랫폼의 대중적 보급에 의한 개인들의 캐릭터 제작과 유통, 경계를 무너뜨리는 유튜브 콘텐츠가 일상적으로 향유되는 한국사회의 복잡계적 지향이 하루키 소설을 쉽게 경도되는 요인으로 보는 것이다. 첫째, ‘캐릭터의 소비, 서브컬처와 스노비즘’에서는 두 소설이 진지한 이야기 대신 연속성 없는 캐릭터 위주의 작은 이야기에 몰두하는 현상을 한국사회에 만연한 서브컬처와 스노비즘과 관련지어 설명한다. 둘째, ‘식별불가능성과 사물중심의 사회학’에서는 두 소설이 현실의 명징함을 거부하고 판타지를 만들어 내는 양상을 사물중심의 하이브리드 사회로 이행하는 한국사회의 지형 속에서 고찰한다. 셋째, ‘예언과 은유, 복잡계의 혁명’에 서는 예언에 내재한 은유의 판타지가 기존 세계를 전복하는 혁명적 가치를 내재하고 있음을 고찰한다.

영문 초록

This study finds the reasons why Kafka on the Shore and Killing commendatore are consumed enthusiastically in Korea’s reading market for the following reasons. The personalization of digital devices and the popularization of web-based platforms during the same period of both works have resulted in remarkable quantitative and qualitative growth of character fantasy, including character production and distribution by individuals, and SF-literature. Here, globalism plays a major role in the globalization of Korea, where global platforms such as Big Data and YouTube are emerging as killer media of the times. And various forms of fantasy, including quantitative and qualitative growth. This study tries to approach the fantasy of Murakami Haruki as a paradigm of complexity by Kafka on the Shore and Killing commendatore. First, in the ‘character’s activity, subculture and snobism’, the two novels focus on the character-centered narrative story rather than the serious story, through subcultures and snobism that are prevalent in Korean society. Second, in ‘unidentifiable and object-oriented sociology’, the two novels refuse to be clarified, and the aspect of creating fantasy in ambiguous mediating state is considered in the terrain of Korean society which is transformed into the object-oriented hybrid society. Third, in ‘prophecy and metaphor, revolution of complex system’, we will consider that the fantasy of the metaphor inherent in prophecy has revolutionary value that overturns the existing world.
