『周易』「節卦」에 대한 丁若鏞의 해석

국문 초록

본 논문에서 다룬 64卦 속의 節卦는 『周易』에서 말하는 기호와 언어의 체계 중 일정한 국면을 표현한다. 그러면서 그것은 다른 국면과 연계되어 있다. 象數易家들, 그리고 그 계통의 丁若鏞은 節卦를 이러한 관점에서 해석하고 있다. 이러한 해석방법은 虞飜과 같은 이들에 의해 시도되었지만 그러한 관점을 종합한 丁若鏞의 易學은 보다 체계적이고 종합적이다. 丁若鏞의 관점에 따르면 節卦의 卦辭는 세계의 현상에 있어서 節卦로 상징되는 상황이 변하지 않고 지속되는 경우를 지시하며, 爻辭의 각각은 그 위치의 획의 음양상태가 다른 상태로 변하여 다른 卦로 가는 경우인 之卦를 지시한다. 즉, 初九는 節卦가 坎卦로, 九二는 節卦가 屯卦로, 六三은 節卦가 需卦로, 六四는 節卦가 兌卦로, 九五는 節卦가 臨卦로, 上六은 節卦가 中孚卦로 변해 간 것을 말한다. 이에 관한 규칙을 丁若鏞은 爻變이라고 한다. 이것으로 節卦와 다른 卦와의 연계성을 알 수 있는데, 이러한 卦 사이의 연계성은 卦 사이의 연원관계를 말하는 推移로도 이야기된다. 丁若鏞은, 이러한 것을 卦爻의 기호와 그 언어인 卦爻辭를 해석하는 중요한 방법으로 내세운다. 이 해석에 있어서 중요한 관건은 기호와 언어를 매개하는 象, 즉 丁若鏞이 말하는 物象이다. 丁若鏞은 爻變과 推移의 규칙으로 節卦의 기호에서 그 物象을 추출하고, 또 다른 규칙으로서 그 이면을 지시하는 互體를 적용하여 그 物象을 추출한다. 본 논문에서, 여기서 논의한 바의 節卦에는 다양한 物象이 관련되어 이로써 丁若鏞의 易學관점에서의 그 卦爻辭의 성립과정을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

The Hexagram of Jie(節) as one of the 64 hexagrams, which this treatise deals with, expresses a certain situation in the system of the symbols and languages in 『Book of Changes(周易)』. And then, it is linked with other situations. The scholars standing on the view of the Doctrine of Images and Numbers and Yagyong Jung(丁若鏞) following the same line interpret the Hexagram of Jie in this viewpoint. The such method of interpretation had been attempted by the scholars such as Yufan(虞飜). But the method of Yagyong Jung is more systematic and synthetic. According to Yagyong Jung`s view, the sentence of the Hexagram of Jie indicates the case that the circumstance corresponding to the Hexagram of Jie is unchanging and continuing in the phenomena of the world, and the every sentence of lines indicates the case that the every state of Yin-Yang(陰陽) corresponding to its line changes to another state and then goes to another hexagram. That is, the first 9 indicates that the Hexagram of Jie(節) has changed to go to the Hexagram of Kan(坎), the second 9 to the Hexagram of Zhun(屯), the third 6 to the Hexagram of Xu(需), the forth 6 to the Hexagram of Dui(兌), the fifth 9 to the Hexagram of Lin(臨), the upper 6 to the Hexagram of Zhongfu(中孚), Yagyong Jung calls the rule of it Change of Line(爻變). We can know the connectivity between the Hexagram of Jie and the other Hexagrams in accordance with this rule, the inter-connectivity among the Hexagrams shows itself by Transition(推移) as well. Yagyong Jung asserts these rules are very important methods in interpreting the symbols and the languages of the hexagrams and their lines. The most important key of the interpretation is the images(象) which goes between the symbols and the languages, which is the images of objects(物象) of Yagyong Jung. He abstracts the images of objects from the symbol of the Hexagram of Jie by using Change of Line and Transition, and also by using another rule, the Inner Image(互體). In this treatise, we have been able to know various images of objects associated with the Hexagram of Jie dealt with here and the establishing process of the every sentences of the hexagram and its lines of Jie according Yagyong Jung`s Yi-theory.
