국문 초록

이 논문은 영화인의 월북을 이유로 영화 상영이 금지된 1940년대 후반부터 일제강점기 제작된 조선영화가 발굴되기 시작한 2000년대 중반까지를 중심으로 월북영화인과 해금에 관해 되짚어 보고 있다. 한국전쟁 이전인 1948년 제작된 <해연>은 영화제작에 참여한 영화인들이 월북했다는 이유로 영화상영 도중 필름이 압수된 첫 번째 영화였다. 한국전쟁 발발 이후 월북영화인이 관여한 영화는 남한 내에서 상영될 수 없었다. 1926년 제작된 <아리랑>처럼 일제 강점기에 제작되었거나 <마음의 고향>처럼 한국전쟁 직전 제작되었던 많은 수의 영화들은 관련 영화인의 월북을 이유로 오랫동안 공개될 수 없었다. 월북영화인들이 참여한 영화 중 일부는 한국영화사의 정전으로 선택되어 상영될 수 있었다. 1975년 해방 30주년 기념이나 1979년 한국영화 탄생 60주년 기념을 위해 개최된 영화상영회에서 해방 후 처음 만들어진 광복영화인 <자유만세>가 상영되었다. 이 영화는 월북영화인 독은기를 화면에서 지워버리는 방식으로 공개되었고 이후 한국영화사의 가장 중요한 자리를 차지하게 된다. 1988년 해금 이후 숨겨졌던 한국영화들이 발굴되기 시작했다. 발굴된 영화들 대부분이 일제말기 영화이다 보니 영화인의 월북이라는 문제보다는 친일문제로 미끄러지기 일쑤였다. 이는 친일문제라는 보다 민감한 문제의 영향도 있지만 월북영화인과 북한영화에 대한 무지에서 빚어진 결과이기도 하다. 현재 월북영화인에 대한 연구는 시작단계로 북한영화 연구와 함께 진행되고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper revolves around the filmmakers and the release from the late 1940s when movie screening was prohibited due to filmmakers defecting to North Korea to 2000s. A sea gul produced in 1948 before the Korean War was the first film to be confiscated during the film screening because the filmmakers defecting to North Korea. After the outbreak of the Korean War, the films involving filmmakers defecting to North Korea could not be screened in South Korea. Like Arirang produced in 1926, many films that were produced just before the Korean War, such as the Home of the Heart made during the Japanese colonial period could not be released for a long time due to defectors from South Korea. The screenings of the films participated by filmmakers defecting to North Korea began to be made through films chosen by Korean film history canon. Hurrah! For Freedom which was the first film after the liberation was screened for the 30th anniversary of liberation in 1975 and the 60th anniversary of the birth of Korean films in 1979. This movie could be released in the way that erasing Dock Eunki on the screen occupied the most important position of Korean film history. Korean movies that have been hidden began to be excavated since 1988. Most of the excavated movies were late end of Japanese imperialism, so it was rather slippery due to collaboration with Japanese colonialists. This is also the result of the more sensitive issue of the pro-Japanese issue, but also the ignorance of filmmakers efecting to North Korea and North Korean films. Currently, research on filmmakers efecting to North Korea is being carried out with North Korean film research as a starting point.
