국문 초록

『삼국사기』에는 642년 백제가 신라의 서쪽 40여 성을 탈취하고, 고구려와 함께 黨項城 공격을 모의했다는 기록이 보인다. 그러나 이는 신라의 일방적인 주장에 불과했으며, 실제 고구려는 참여하지 않았다고 여겨진다. 655년에 고구려ㆍ백제ㆍ말갈이 함께 신라의 北邊 33성을 攻取 했다는 기록 역시 백제는 참가하지 않았을 가능성이 높다. 당시 신라는 항상 고구려와 백제의 연합을 강조하며, 스스로는 唐과 가까워지고자 노력하였다. 결과적으로 신라는 643년부터 ‘麗濟連和說’를 주장하였던 것이다. 7세기 고구려 집권층은 국제 사회에서의 독자세력권 회복을 추진하였다. 그런데 이는 당 중심의 국제 질서를 부정하고, 주변 국가들에 대한 고구려의 영향력을 지켜내야만 가능한 일이었다. 특히 백제와 신라는 당과 교섭하며, 장기간 고구려를 위협하였으므로 고구려는 이것을 차단하는데 주력해야만 했다. 따라서 고구려의 대외 정책에서 백제와 신라는 모두 제압해야만 하는 상대였으며, 특별히 백제와 연합해야 할 까닭을 상정하긴 힘들다.

영문 초록

According to 『Samguksagi(三國史記)』, it is found that Baekje attacked and took about 40 castles in the west of Silla in 642 and planned to occupy Danghangseong(黨項城) of Silla through the coalition with Goguryeo. However, it is estimated that this opinion was just one-sidedly made by Silla and actually, Goguryeo was not involve. It is more likely that Baekje also didn t participate in this attack plan above-mentioned, considering that Goguryeo, Baekje, and Mohe(靺鞨) occupied the northern 33 castles of Silla in partnership in 655. In contrast, in consideration of many other historical events, it is estimated that Silla always emphasized the coalition between Goguryeo and Baekje and tried to get close with Tang dynasty of China. In light of these facts, it seems that it came from the coalition theory between Goguryeo and Baekje(麗濟連和說) by Silla from 643. In the 7th century, Goguryeo s ruling elite promoted the recovery of its own sphere of influence in the international community. By the way, this policy was possible only when Goguryeo denied the international order at the center of Tang and kept its influence on surrounding countries. Thus, especially Goguryeo concentrated on blocking the alliance between Silla and Baekje because these two countries established diplomatic relations with Tang and threatened Goguryeo. Consequently, it seems that Silla and Baekje were the rivals for Goguryeo to suppress for its diplomatic policy and therefore it cannot be assumed that two countries attacked Silla.
