오감을 활용한 영어지도가 유아의 영어능력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 오감을 활용한 영어 지도가 유아의 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기의 의사소통능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지와 유아의 흥미, 자신감, 동기, 태도의 정의적 영역에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 데에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 오감을 활용한 영어 교수-학습 모형을 개발하였으며, 이를 어린이집에 다니는 7세반 유아 14명을 대상으로 10주 동안 교육 현장에 적용하였다. 연구 방법으로는 양적 접근과 질적 접근 방법을 사용하여 연구 결과의 신뢰도와 타당도를 높이고자 하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 오감을 활용한 영어 지도가 유아들의 영어 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기 기능 향상에 도움을 주었다. 둘째, 오감을 활용한 영어 지도가 영어 학습에 대한 흥미, 자신감, 동기, 태도의 정의적 영역에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 본 연구의 결과는 다양한 감각 경험을 제공하는 오감 활용 영어지도가 유아들로 하여금 영어 학습을 즐거운 경험이라고 느끼게 할 수 있으며, 능동적인 영어 학습 태도를 키워주는데 도움을 줄 수 있다는 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the Influence of English instruction using the ‘five senses’ on young children s listening speaking reading and writing skills and their affective domains. In this study a English Instruction model using the five senses was developed for 7th year children based on Korean kindergarten curriculum. For this study 14 seven-year-old kindergarten children participated for 10 weeks. The Wilcoxon signed rank test using a SPSS statistics program was employed to analyze the results of the English language ability test and the affective domain survey. In addition classroom observation interview and classroom diary were collected and analyzed to increase the validity and reliability of the study. The findings were as follows: First the childrens listening speaking and reading scores in the post-test were significantly higher than those of in the pre-test. Second the survey result revealed that the English instruction using the five senses positively affected on children s overall affective domains(in interest confidence motivation and attitude). In order to maximize the effect of English instruction using the five senses it is necessary however to ensure various conditions such as securing enough time and a sufficient range of ages for the experiment. In addition it would be necessary to make supplemental adaptations according to the kindergarten curriculum.
