국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대안학교에서의 과학수업을 통해 나타나는 학생들의 수업참여 양상을 살펴보고 그 요인을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구는 질적 연구 방법론에 기반을 두었으며, 서울시 소재의 도시형 대안학교인 소망학교의 과학수업에 참여한 8명의 학생들과 함께 수행되었다. 제공된 과학수업은 상황인지론의 관점에서 학습을 정의 하고, 실천공동체에서의 상호작용 그리고 실생활과의 연관을 중심으로 구성되었다. 수업영상, 수업일지, 관찰노트, 학생면담, 수업평가서 수집 등의 다양한 방법을 통하여 생성된 자료들을 이론적 코딩 접근을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과는 대안학교 학생들의 과학수업 참여 양상을 5개로 범주화된 요인들을 통해 - 교사 요인, 공동체 요인, 수업주제 요인, 교수방법 요인, 그리고 내적동기 요인- 설명하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify and describe factors that shape students’ participation in science class at an alternative school. Employing qualitative research approach this study was carried out with 8 students in a science class at an alternative school called Somang School located in Seoul. In the science class learning was defined and framed based upon situated learning theories and the instructional emphasis was put on contextualization of science learning within students lifeworlds and also students participation and interaction in the science class i.e. fostering the community of practice in the class. Data were generated through multiple methods including classroom videos observation notes teacher s journal entries student interviews and course evaluation results by students and analyzed through theoretical coding processes. Using 5 key categories developed from the data analysis the results describe how the alternative school students participated in the science class and what aspects of the learning environment have shaped and facilitated their participation in science learning.
