노인요양공동생활가정을 위한 자연친화적 디자인에 관한 연구 - 섬유 제품디자인 개발을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 고령화 사회 심화에 따른 노인복지시설의 급증으로 인한 획일화 된 환경으로부터 요양노인을 배려한 생활공간으로 개선하기 위한 방안으로써, 섬유 제품을 심미적 · 기능적 디자인으로 개발, 제안을 통하여 자연친화적 생활환경을 조성하고자 한다. 노인복지시설 중 노인요양공동생 활가정은 심신 및 지각 기능이 저하된 노인들이 생활하는 곳으로, 대부분을 실내에서 생활하기에 실내공간을 중심으로 섬유 제품을 개발하였다. 이에 본 연구는 첫째, 자연친화적 디자인을 이해하기 위해 친환경 섬유소재와 친환경 기법인 천연염색에 대한 이론적 고찰을 진행하였다. 둘째, 선행 연구의 일환으로 일본의 노인복지시설을 직접 방문하여 현장사례조사를 실시함으로써, 일본노인시 설의 실내 환경 현황 및 특성을 파악, 분석하였다. 이에, 도출된 내용을 근거로 국내 노인요양공동 생활가정의 실내 환경 개선 및 생활에 편리함을 줄 수 있는 방안을 섬유 제품디자인을 통하여 모색하고자 하였다. 셋째, 이론적 고찰과 사례조사를 기반으로 국내 노인요양공동생활가정에 적합한 자연친화적 섬유 제품디자인 11종을 개발하였다. 이에, 도출된 자연친화적 섬유 제품디자인에 대한 특징은 다음과 같다. 자연친화적 소재인 오가닉 코튼은 수분 함유량이 많고 보온성 및 흡수성이 뛰어나 요양노인들의 건조한 피부를 완화 시켜 숙면에 도움을 주었다. 또한, 자연친화적 기법인 쪽염은 항균·향취 및 스트레스 완화 등으로 생활의 편의를 주었고, 산수화를 모티브로 한 자연친화적 패턴은 요양노인들에게 감성적 기능에 도움을 주었다. 이러한 자연친화적 섬유 제품을 개발, 제안함으로써, 요양노인들을 위한 생활의 편리성과 정서적 편안함으로 쾌적한 환경을 도출하여 개선된 노인복지를 제공하고자 하였다. 또한, 향후 설치될 노인요양공동생활가정의 생활환경에 대한 자료로도 활용되어지리라 기대해 본다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to build nature-friendly living environment for the elderly by developing and proposing aesthetic and functional designs in a bid to make improvement on the living environment of elderly care facilities that have become somewhat uniform in conditions due to a sharp increase in such facilities as a result of a rapidly aging society in a way to facilitate elderly care. Among many elderly welfare facilities, the group home for the elderly is intended to serve the elderly people whose physical and mental functions are undermined and who stay indoor most of their time, and thus product development has been focused on fabric products used in indoor space. With this in mind, the study has conducted the followings. First, the theoretical study on eco-friendly fabric materials and eco-friendly processing technique called natural dye has been carried out to properly understand the natural-friendly design. Second, as a preliminary study, I have visited the elderly welfare facilities in Japan and conducted an on-site case study to identify and analyze the current indoor environment conditions and characteristics of the elderly care facilities in Japan, based on which, I have sought out ways to promote indoor environment and convenience of living of the domestic group homes for the elderly through design development of fabric products. Third, based on the theoretical considerations and case studies described above, I have come up with 11 different natural-friendly fabric product designs that are suitable to meet the needs of domestic group homes for the elderly. The characteristics of these natural-friendly fabric product designs are summarized as follows. Natural-friendly organic cotton features a high moisture content and excellent heat retention and absorptiveness, which helps with taking care of dry skin of the elderly and thus promoting deep sleep. In addition, the nature-friendly indigo dye technique has promoted the convenience of living due to its favorable features, including antifungal property, fragrance, and stress relief, and the nature-friendly pattern with the landscape painting as a motif has helped the elderly with improving their emotional function. The development of such nature-friendly fabric products has been intended to promote the convenience of living and emotional stability for the elderly under care as part of providing better elder welfare services, enabling the elderly to feel warm. I also expect this study to be used as a useful reference for group homes for the elderly to be established in the future.
