국문 초록

본 연구는 최치원(857-?)의 은둔지인 가야산 홍류동의 시석(詩石)을 중심으로 이루어진 문화경관과 <제가야산독서당> 차운시를 대상으로하였다. 최치원은 가야산에 입산하여 독서당에 은거하면서 이 시를 짓고 계곡의 암반에 새겼다. 독서당과 시석(詩石)은 홍류동 경관에 상징을 부여하고 최치원에 대한 기억을 확대 재생산하는 기능을 했다. 본 연구는 홍류동에 대한 현장조사와 이를 둘러싼 문헌고증을 통해<제가야산독서당> 시석에 대한 학계의 오류를 바로 잡았다. 시석의 정확한 존재 양태를 정의하기 위해 <가야산유람록> 등의 기행문과 가야산을 읊은 시, 동국여지승람 등의 지리지를 참고하였다. 홍류동에는<제가야산독서당> 시석이 두 개 있다. 원 시석은 최치원 필적으로서 현 재 치원대(致遠臺)로 불리는 곳에 해서체로 새겨졌다. 이 시석은 오랜 세월을 지나며 글자가 마멸되어 네 글자 정도만 알아볼 수 있었던 상황이 16세기 문헌까지 확인된다. 이후 우암 송시열이 초서체로 시를 다시썼고 이것이 농산정 건너편 석벽 시석이다. 해인사 승려 중에 바위에 글씨를 새기는 각승(刻僧)이 있었다. 지금까지 확인된 <제가야산독서당> 차운시는 60여 편이다. 문집에 전하는 것이 대부분이며 농산정 현판과 홍류동의 바위에도 14편이 전한다. 가야산 문화경관에 대해 읊은 수많은 시 중에서 <제가야산독서당> 차운시는 최치원의 시석(詩石)을 창작의 원천으로 하고 있다. 따라서 이들시에는 최치원에 대한 인식과 홍류동 문화경관을 바라보는 태도가 잘나타난다. 차운시는 홍류동 경관을 바라보는 태도와 은둔의 가치에 대해 표현한 것으로 크게 분류된다. 경관을 바라보는 태도는 객관세계로서의 홍류동의 자연과 선계(仙界)로 표상되는 관념적 경관으로 구분된다. 첫째 유형은 홍류동의 아름다운 풍경을 구체화하고 최치원의 선화(仙化) 에 대한 인식을 반영한다. 은둔의 가치에 대한 표현은 은둔에 대한 공감의 태도와 비판의 태도를 드러낸 것으로 구분된다. 이들 차운시는 시석과 홍류동 문화경관에 대한 해석이며 최치원의 은둔에 대한 의미 해석과 최치원에 대한 기억의 재생산에 기여하고 있다.

영문 초록

The objects of this study are the cultural landscape of Hongryudong valley in Gaya Mountain, Choe Chi-won’s(857-?) seclusion place, and rhyme-borrowing poetry of . He entered the Gaya Mountain, lived in the reading house, wrote this poems and engraved them on the rock of the valley. The reading house and the poetry stone gave a symbol to the Hongryudong scenery and expanded and reproduced the meaning of Choe Chi-won. In this study, the academical errors were corrected about the existence pattern of his poetry stone. The scenery of the poetry stone was researched through travel pieces like Gayasanyuramrok, the poetry for Gaya Mountain, the literature such as Dongkukyeoziseungram and field trips. Choe Chi-won’s handwritten poetry stone is a rock called Chiwondae and it was carved in the square style of writing Chinese characters. It is confirmed by the literature in the 16th century that the letters have been worn out in the strong valley water for many years and only four letters have been recognized. After that, Wooam Song Si-yeol again wrote a poem in the cursive style of writing Chinese characters and this is the poetry stone at opposite hill of Nongsanjeong. It was confirmed in the literature that there have been an engraver among Haeinsa monks. It is confirmed until now that there be about 60 rhyme-borrowing poems of . Most of them are in collections of works, and 14 pieces are found in the Nongsanjeong board and the rock of Hongryudong. The creation of rhyme-borrowing poems starts with the recognition of Choe Chi-won and Hongryudong cultural landscapes. The characteristics of rhyme-borrowing poems are largely classified into expression for the aesthetic sense of the Hongryudong landscapes and recreation for the seclusion consciousness contained in his original poetry. The expression for the aesthetic sense about natural sceneries is represented by a fairyland. This is the result of embodying the beautiful Hongryudong sceneries and reflecting the perception that he became a hermit. The poems recreating the seclusion consciousness of express the sympathy of the poet facing the Hongryudong landscapes for Choe Chi-won. Therefore, rhyme-borrowing poems are interpretations for the Hongryudong cultural landscapes and the later interpretation for his seclusion.
