영문 초록

The aim of this study is to analysis the characteristics of environment agriculture in mountain region through management form as the case study on Yowon-Ri(Smallest Administrative district), Seokbo-Myon(district), Youngyang-Gun(county), Gyeongbuk Province. The findings are summarized as the followings. First, the size of the land cultivated per household in the study area is bigger than that in plain. However, the size of the land owned per household in the former is smaller than that in the latter. Consequently, most of the local farmers in the former lease the land owned by a few people. Second, the leased land which are close to the road and market and also easy to use farm machines is preferred by the local farmers. The traditional farming in a small village were done both by family labor and by the reciprocal labor of a community. But the farming after the introduction of commercial agriculture was dependent on outside wage labor. Third, after the early 1990s, the farm machines such as a cultivator and tractor was introduced in farming mainly due to the decreasing price of vegetables, the growth of wage, and the shortage of wage laborer. Finally, the agricultural products were generally sold through a business agent, and they were sold by an agricultural cooperative association after the establishment of the organization of studying crop cultivation. After the mid-1990s when the price of vegetables was rapidly decreased, the active marketing of the agricultural products is cooperatively implemented. The meanings of this study are the followings : to study by historical context as the case of small scale and link to sale of farm products.
