영문 초록

Behind the outstanding achievement of economic development, in Korea are side effectsno less than the achievement revealed ; the growing disparity between industrial sectors, regions, and classes. Recently, the Southwestern Region of the country, one of the typical lagging region in the country draws a nationwide attraction for the promising development area. Thus many a projects are being suggested and attempted. However, the region has serious limitations in structural rather than quantitative terms to be tackled. They are conocerned with ; 1) strong vertical linkages and weak horizontal linkages both in public and private sectors at the regional level, 2) poor endowment of hard and soft infrastuctures, and 3) increasing intraregional disparity. The path of Korea`s economic and spatial developments foreshadows not a few implications to China. Some suggestions from the Korea`s experience are as follows ; 1) understanding of spread mechanism is highly significant in comprehension of development process, 2) attempt of dual approach in some, fields is advisable in the Chinese context ; developing domestic market and overseas market as well, simultaneous development of heavy and light in dustries, and equal attention both to large urban centers and small centers.
