조선 후기 책거리자수병풍에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 조선후기 책거리 자수 병풍에 관한 것이다. 주요 연구 대상은 현존하는 유물 중 한국자수박물관 소장 책거리 자수 병풍을 중심으로 하였다. 특히 책거리 자수 병풍을 조선 후기의 책거리 그림과 비교함으로써 두 분야의 상호 영향 관계에 대해서 연구하였다. 한국자수박물관 소장 책거리 자수 병풍은 당대의 책거리 그림 병풍과 비슷한 형식과 내용을 가지고 있다. 책거리 그림은 중국의 영향을 크게 받았는데, 초기에는 궁중 화원들에 의해 그려진 책가도 형식이 발전했다. 이후에는 서가가 없는 나열형이 함께 제작되었다. 특히 책거리 자수 병풍은 나열형 책거리 그림과 동일한 구성을 하고 있어 그 연관성을 유추할 수 있다. 조선 후기의 초기작에서부터 조선 말기에 이르기까지, 국내에서 발견되는 대부분의 책거리 그림들이 비슷한 형태와 구도를 유지할 수 있었던 것은 모방하여 그릴 수 있는 원본도판이 존재하였기 때문이다. 이것은 책거리 자수 병풍의 수본(繡本)이 책거리 그림의 모본(模本)과 관련이 있음을 알려주는 명확한 증거이다. 또한 책거리 자수 병풍은 형식, 구도나 내용 등에서 중국 자수청공도와 유사한 면이 있어 그로부터 이루어진 적잖은 영향을 추론할 수 있으므로 중국 자수청공도(刺繡淸供圖)는 책거리 그림 양식 중 나열형이 나오게 된 근거 중의 하나라고 말할 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 책거리 그림과 자수병풍은 서로 영향을 주고받으며 제작되었으며 회화 못지않은 예술성과 대중성을 확보하고 있었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 책거리 자수 병풍은 책거리 그림과 함께 궁중과 민간을 아우르는 한국적인 특성을 잘 표현해주는 작품이기도 하다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾아볼 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The Chaek-geo-ri embroidery folding screen collectioned at the Museum of Korean embroidery has similar form and contents of the other Chaek-geo-ri painting on the folding screen of the era. The Chaek-geo-ri paintings are produced by the court painters with the influence of Chinese paintings first as a Scholar’s accoutrements and then it goes through the courses to be painted as an listed type without having the bookshelf. The Chaek-geo-ri embroidery folding screen has the same form of the enumerated type of drawing. The Chaek-geo-ri paintings continued to take the similar form and composition thanks to their original references. This shows the correlation between the embroidery design of the Chaek-geo-ri embroidery folding screen and example of the Chaek-geo-ri painting. The Chaek-geo-ri embroidery folding screen heavily reflects Chinese influence as it has some similarity with the Chinese embroidery Qingontu in forms and compositions due to active trade with Qing dynasty during the late Joseon period. The Chinese embroidery Qingongtu is one of the basis that the listed type is developed among the forms of Chaek-geo-ri painting. Therefore, the Chaek-geo-ri drawing and the embroidery were produced while influencing one another. Also, the Chaek-geo-ri embroidery folding screen is very meaningful that it expresses Korean character well by embracing the court and the civilians with the form of Chaek-geo-ri.
