錦帶 李家煥 記文의 주제 표출 양상

국문 초록

이 논문은 금대 이가환의 기문을 주제별로 분석하고, 공통된 주제에 따라 분류하여 표출양상을 정리한 것이다. 금대의 문집인 『詩文艸』에는 총 18편의 기문이 수록되어 있다. 본문에서는 記事性 산문의 성격을 띠고 있어 정통고문의 기문이라 하기에는 논란의 여지가 있는 「記昌城尉事」와 「記訓局卒事」를 제외한 16편의 기문을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 금대의 글 전체를 이끄는 것은 載道的 문학관이라 할 수 있는데, 그의 기문 역시 도문일치에 바탕을 두고 있으며, 敍事보다는 議論이 주조를 이루고 있다. 금대는 부나 명예, 권력을 위한 학문보다는 내적인 수양을 위한 '爲己之學'에 가치를 두었고, 이를 위해 '마음을 지킴[守心]'을 주장하였다. 그는 '爲己之學'을 위해서는 목적을 분명히 해야 함을 강조하였고, 또한 부모를 생각하는 마음이 그 목적이 되어야 한다고 하였다. 부모를 위하는 마음이 곧 자신을 위하는 길이라는 것이다. 그리고 부모의 뜻을 받들고 조상을 공경하는 '不忘本'의 마음이 집안을 보전하고 건물을 보전하는 힘이라는 것이다. 금대에게 있어 삶의 지향점은 요임금이나 순임금, 공자, 맹자, 거백옥 같은 성인에 가까운 인물의 성품이었다. 그는 성인의 품성을 목표로 삼아 성찰하고 실천하는 수양의 자세를 견지할 것을 말하였다. 수신ㆍ제가ㆍ치국ㆍ평천하의 이상적인 사회의 완성도 평범한 한 사람 한사람이 일상생활에서 평범한 도리를 실천함으로써 이룰 수 있다고 보았다. 또한 금대는 거처나 처한 상황이 행ㆍ불행을 가져오는 것이 아니라 그것을 받아들이는 마음자세가 행ㆍ불행을 만든다고 보고, 그 상황을 만족하게 여기고 넉넉하게 수용하는 초월적 태도가 필요하다고 보았다. 현실의 삶에서 자족하는 가운데 도를 즐기고, 세상일에 관심을 끊고, 자신이 추구하는 정신세계를 지향해서 공부해 나갈 것을 주장하였다. 금대는 인위적으로 조작된 자연이 아닌 천연의 '眞趣'가 가장 아름답다고 보고, 자연 자체를 즐기려 하였다. 그리고 자연을 즐길 수 있는 그 여유가 군주가 만들어준 태평성대에서 기인한다고 보았다. 자연을 대하고 詩酒를 즐기는데 있어서도 군주에 감사하며, 넘치지 않으려는 그의 태도를 '樂而不流'라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze Geumdae(錦帶) Lee Gahwan(李家煥, 1742~1801)'s writings by topics and then classify them by topics and arrange the aspects of showing topics. 『Simuncho(詩文艸)』, Geumdae(錦帶)'s collection of works, contains total 16 writings of his. What leads his writing in general is his ethical view of literature, and his writing is also grounded on 'domunilchi(道文一致)', and what constructs it mainly is not the narration but the discussion. Geumdae puts value on 'wigijihak(爲己之學)' for the sake of internal cultivation rather than studying for wealth, fame, or power, and for the actualization of it, he supports 'susim(守心: to keep the goal in mind)'. For 'wigijihak(爲己之學)', he emphasizes one must have a clear goal and insists that filial piety should be the ultimate goal of it. It means that to live for your parents is to live for yourself. Also, he says that the will of 'bulmangbon(不忘本: not to forget the root)' to support your parents' intention and worship your ancestors is the very power to preserve your family and your building. To Geumdae, the pursuit of life is the character of saints like King Wu, King Sun, Confucius, Mencius, or Geobaekok. He insists that you should stick to the attitude of cultivation taking a saint's character as your goal and constantly meditating on and practicing it. He also deems that the ideal society of Susin(修身)ㆍJega(齊家)ㆍChiguk(治國)ㆍPyeongcheonha(平天下) can be realized only when ordinary individuals do their own ordinary duties in their everyday lives. Also, Geumdae sees that the place or situation that a person is in does not bring happiness or unhappiness, but what really makes them is the attitude of receiving them, so it is necessary to have a transcendental attitude to be satisfied with the current situation and receive any of them generously. He insists that you should enjoy cultivating 'do (morality)' by being satisfied with your real life, stop paying attention to what is happening in the world, and keep pursuing the mental world you are oriented to. Geumdae regards the most beautiful thing of all is not artificially manipulated nature but the natural 'taste of truth(眞趣)' and tries to enjoy nature itself. And he sees that the leisurely time to enjoy nature comes from 'taepyeongseongdae(太平聖代)' that the king has made for us. His attitude can be considered as 'nagibulryu(樂而不流)' as he is grateful about the king even when he is receiving nature and enjoying the drinks of poems and tries to be moderate.
