국문 초록

본 논문에서는 현대 리더십 이론과 유학적 리더십의 비교를 통해 보다 발전적인 현대 리더십의 이론 모델을 제시하고자 한다. 나아가 이를 통해 유학에 기반한 학문간 융복합의 가능성의 타진과 유학적 리더십이 지닌 현대적 가치의 발견을 주요 목적으로 삼고 있다. 변혁적 리더십(Transformational Leadership)은 현대 리더십 이론 중에서도 가장 활발하게 연구가 진행되고 있는 분야로서, 나름대로의 탄탄한 이론적 구성을 바탕으로 세부적인 리더십 요인들에 대한 분석이 이루어지고 있다. 변혁적 리더십을 형성하는 주요 요인으로 이상적 영향력(idealized influence), 영감적 동기부여(inspirational motivation), 지적 자극(intellectual stimulation), 개별적 배려(individualized consideration) 등이 제시되어, 그것에 대한 실증적 연구가 시도되고 있다. 그러나 그와 관련된 구체적인 양상이나 실증적 사례가 부족하기 때문에 아직까지 정형화된 틀을 구성하는 단계까지는 나아가지 못하고 있다. 유학은 특히 관계를 중시하는 학문으로, 관계리더십의 측면에서 정밀한 이론과 구체적인 사례를 많이 축적하고 있다. 이러한 유학적 리더십의 정밀한 이론 체계와 구체적이고 실증적인 사례들은 변혁적 리더십의 이론 보완과 이론의 타당성 검증을 위한 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 변혁적 리더십과 유학적 리더십의 결합은 동서양을 아우르는 현대 리더십의 새로운 방향성을 찾는 데 크게 기여할 것으로 생각한다.

영문 초록

This thesis is to present a more developmental theoretical model for modern leadership through comparison between modern leadership theory and Confucian leadership. Furthermore, it aims to seek probability of fusion and integration between studies based on Confucianism through this and pursue discovery of modern value that Confucian leadership is equipped with. Among modern leadership theories, transformational leadership attracts the most attention from academic world, in which detailed elements for leadership is analyzed based on its own solid theoretical structure. Major elements to form transformational leadership are presented with idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration, which are now subject to empirical studies. Concrete aspects or empirical cases related to them, however, are still insufficient so they cannot progress to constitute them as a formulaic frame yet. Confucianism puts much emphasis on relations and a number of precise theories and concrete cases are accumulated within it in the aspect of leadership on relation. This precise theoretical system and specific and empirical cases can be utilized as significant materials for theoretical supplementation and validity verification in transformational leadership. In addition, the combination of transformational leadership and Confucian leadership would make a great contribution to finding a new directivity in modern leadership which embraces the West and the East.
