退溪의 遊山記에 나타난 성리학적 삶의 이상

국문 초록

이 논문은 조선성리학자들의 遊山記에 나타난 두 가지 인생 태도를 포괄적 이고 유기적으로 이해하고자 시도하고 있다. 조선성리학자들에게 있어 산수는 한편으로는 구도와 수양의 공간으로 인식되고 다른 한편으로는 풍류와 유희 의 공간으로 규정되었다. 그러나 이 두 의미는 상반되고 충돌하는 것이어서, 어떻게 양자를 정합적으로 이해해야 하는가의 의문이 제기되지 않을 수 없다. 이것은 그들이 추구했던 이상적인 인생 경지가 무엇인가에 대한 질문과 연결 되는 것이라는 점에서 철학적으로 중요한 의미를 지니는 것이기도 하다. 이 논문은 특히 退溪의 遊山記에 대한 분석을 통해 이 문제에 대한 해답을 모색 하고 있다. 이 글에서는 우선 人生境界論에 주목한다. 논문에 따르면, 성리학 에서는 有我的 인생 태도와 無我的 인생 태도를 모두 중시하는 동시에 양자 가 유기적으로 융합되는 이상적 경계를 추구하였다. 曾點의 氣象이라는 경지 가 바로 이것을 나타낸다. 이 인생경계는 자기 수양과 사회적 책임을 다하는 사대부의 태도와 光風霽月같은 灑落의 기상을 갖춘 달관자의 태도가 하나로 융회되는 경지를 가리킨다. 결론적으로 이 논문은 有我와 無我의 융합적 경지 가 바로 퇴계가 遊山記에서 표현하고자 했던 궁극적 주제이자 그가 추구했던 이상적 인생 경지였다고 주장한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to understand two kinds of life attitudes organically, that are expressed in Toegye Yihwang退溪 李滉's travel essays. In his literary works, nature is the two sorts of meaning spaces, that is, one is for seeking the truth and self cultivation, and the other is for amusement and pleasure in the acusion of mountain and creek. These two meanings, however, are antagonistic or contradictory each other, so there is a need for comprehensive explaining between these two conflicting meanings. It has a so important philosophical significance because it refers to the meaning of ideal life stage that Toegye had pursued. For this researching, this paper choose the theory of life realm in Neo-Confucianism as the methodology. According to this paper, Neo-Confucianism divided the theory of life realm into two aspects: moral duty attitude and transcendental freedom attitude. And it proposed the collaborative stage of the two attitudes, that was named as ideal stage of Zeng Dian曾點 who was pupil of Confucius孔子. This paper claims that this collaborative stage is not only the core of Toegye's natural literatures but also the final purpose of all his life. By this paper, Toegye criticized Jo Sik曺植 and Ju Se-boong周世鵬 by his collaborative stage furtively. That is, Jo Sik was only attaching at moral duty and self cultivation, and Ju Se-boong was going toward transcendental freedom little by little. After criticizing them, Toegye proposed his own attitude of life. This paper illustrates the literary and philosophical meaning of his ideal thought about the meaning of life by analyzing his works.
