역학적 사유의 살아있는 기원

국문 초록

이 글은 신체화된 의미 이론에 기초를 둔 영상도식, 개념적 은유, 개념 혼성 등의 방법론적 토대 위에서 『주역』의 몇 가지 요소들을 비판적으로 검토한다. 천원지방(天圓地方), 6효의 명칭, 노음(老陰)과 노양(老陽), 본괘(本卦)에서 지괘(之卦)로의 변화 및 ｢계사전｣의 “일음일양지위도(一陰一陽之謂道)”라는 구절과 관련된 다양한 해석들이 어떻게 개념적 은유의 관점에서 이해될 수 있는지 보여준다. 이를 통해 역학적 사유의 기원을 이루는 원형적인 개념적 은유를 명료하게 드러냄으로써 이 독특한 사유 양식이 출발부터 인간 상상력의 일반적 기능에 의존한 채로 태동되었고, 또한 그 때문에 여전히 오늘날에도 살아있다고 주장한다.

영문 초록

This paper reviews critically several factors of『the Book of Changes(周易)』 on the methodological basis of ‘Image Schema’ㆍ‘Conceptual Metaphor’ㆍ‘Conceptual Blending’ which are based on the embodied meaning theory. There are many views and interpretations in relation to ‘Round sky and Square earth(天圓地方)’, Six-lines(六爻)’s name, ‘the old Yin(老陰)’ and ‘the old Yang(老陽)’, change from ‘Fundamental hexagram(本卦)’ to ‘Changing hexagram(之卦)’ and ‘One Yin and one Yang constitute what is called Tao (一陰一陽之謂道)’ of ｢‘Xi ci chuan(繫辭傳)’｣. This paper shows how this passages are understood at the perspective of conceptual metaphor. Also, through this, clarifies obviously prototypical and conceptual metaphors which are based on the origin of the Book of Changes(周易)’s thought. Due to it, these special thought style had began by depending on the general functions of the human imagination from the start, and therefore I insists that it is still alive today.
