수용미학의 관점에서 본 오규원 시 연구

국문 초록

이 글은 오규원 중기시의 수사학적ㆍ주제적 특성을 수용미학의 관점에서 살펴본 것이다. 오규원이 왕성한 활동을 했던 1970,80년대라는 시기는 주체적인 근대 지향성의 표출이 두드러짐과 동시에 사회 문화적인 변혁기라는 특수성을 전제로 하기 때문에 아이러니의 정신이 더 부각된다는 특징을 가진다. 이 시기에 시인이 추구한 아이러니 기법과 정신은 분열된 자아를 표현하는 데서 그치지 않고 한 시대가 갖는 파행적인 모순과 자의식이 상호 충돌하는 현대 문명에 대한 회의와 갈등으로 귀착되는 양상을 보인다. 시적 언어와 일상적 언어 사이의 완강한 간극과 선입견을 해체하고 시의 언어를 확대시킨 데에 오규원이 한국시에 기여한 바가 크다고 할 때, 여기서 강조할 것은 그것이 단지 수사학적 차원이 아니라 상황의 아이러니와 연결되어 있다는 점일 것이다. 이런 전제에서 본고는 오규원의 중기시가 가지는 수사적 특성이 독자에게 어떤 독서 체험을 유발하며 그것이 어떤 기대 지평으로 전환될 수 있는지를 검토해 보았다. 세부적으로 구현되는 양상은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시쓰기에 대한 이중적 자의식과 주체의 분열이 두드러진다는 점인데 여기서 시인은 현실 사회의 반어적 구조를 시에 수용하고 시인의 자존감을 회복하려는 열망을 보여주는 것으로 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 실존적 자아의 죽음의식과 사물화 현상이 전경화되어 나타난다는 점이다. 시인은 죽음에 대한 존재론적 성찰을 통해 아이러니의 수사학을 펼쳐 보이는데, 텍스트에서는 사물화된 자아가 탈을 쓰고 현대인의 일상을 비판적 시선으로 응시하고 있을 뿐 아니라 시적 자아의 분열된 모습을 통해 독자를 입체적인 독서 과정으로 유인하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 순수시에 대한 미적 지평과 자유의 이중성에 대한 반어적 인식이 구현되고 있다는 점이다. 시인은 가식적인 자아를 진실한 자아라고 믿으며 도덕적인 타락을 자각하지 못하는 산업 사회의 인간 군상을 날카롭게 풍자하고 자유에 대한 관념과 순수시에 대한 미적 지평을 새로운 시선으로 열어 보이고 있었다. 특히 자유의 이중성을 지적하는 시들에서는 단지 고정된 의미를 전도시키는 차원에서 그치는 것이 아니라 한 시대가 갖는 여러 모순들이 상호 충돌하는 현대 사회의 상황성을 환기시킨다는 점에서 독자는 독서의 상상 작업을 더 활성화시키게 된다. 무엇보다 오규원의 시는 비시적이고 낯선 미적 감각을 던짐으로써 시의 수용을 새롭게 하는 창조적 측면을 가지고 있기 때문에 독자는 시의 언어 기호가 소통되는 자유로움을 누리게 되고 그 텍스트는 심미적 구체화의 다양한 과정을 거쳐 창의적인 의미의 지평으로 개방되어 있음을 인지하게 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study focused on the irony of O Kyu Won's poems in the theory of reader-response. O Kyu Won tried to write experimental poems that kept objective distance between contradiction and period of 1970-80's industrial society. This study is based to understand the irony between self considentity and industrial society. According to W.Iser, the text by author is turned into a piece of work only by the reader's ability of appreciation and response. The reception aesthetic is a literacy theory which argues that the interpretation of the text shoud occur by putting emphasis on the reader's reception of the text and distance from the textual analysis. Text itself has the structure inducing the readers and pushes the readers get the empty space. Therefore, the mutual relation between the reader and the text becomes important. I suppose that the introduction of the aesthetics of reception theory, korean irony poems will be better explained. O Kyu Won recognizes modern poet's irony certainly. In attemp to explain the goal, I intend through concrete reading, to shed emphasize on how O Kyu Won's irony contains elements expanding the existing horizon of expectation. O Kyu Won's irony poems showing a tendency of criticizing world with unfamiliar persona and words. In his middle poetry composed on the basis of keeping a distance from the world, poetry writing with irony is realized where the actual of the time and the poetic subject are described both with harmony and conflict. So the structure of poem readers get frustrated. By this frustration, the structure of the poem is focused on the dual description in the poetic narration. The narrative in the poem by the dual description exist interruping its meaning of limited self -identity and space. By this narrations, the meaning of text remain important without any ralation to the continuous meaning. Readers make a continuous effort of grasping the meaning through critical reading. Through this, the pleasure of creating the meaning, and the possibility of creation is a great powerful reading his poems. So I was able to discover how to read O Kyu Won's poems by giving a new way of reading.
