학습부진 중학생의 주의체계와 문식성

국문 초록

이 연구는 학습부진 중학생의 주의체계와 문식성을 관찰하고 주의특성이 문식성에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해, 학습부진 중학생과 일반 중학생의 수행을 비교 분석하였다. 주의체계를 관찰하기 위해 ANT(Attentional network test)를 사용하여 주의의 경계(alerting), 정향(orienting), 집행통제(executive control)점수를 산출하고, 문식성을 분석하기 위해 한글읽기, 영어읽기, 한글쓰기를 측정하였다. 연구 결과, 학습부진 중학생은 일반 중학생에 비해 주의체계 중 집행통제력이 낮은 것으로 나타났지만, 주의의 경계와 정향에서는 두 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 또한 문식성에서는 두 집단 간 차이가 유의하였다. 주의체계가 문식성을 예측하는지 보기위한 위계적 회귀분석의 결과, 일반 중학생의 경우에는 집행통제 변인이 문식성 측정치인 한글읽기, 영어읽기, 한글 쓰기를 모두 예측한 데 반해, 학습부진 중학생의 경우에는 집행통제가 한글쓰기 만을 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 학습부진 중학생이 일반 중학생에 비해 문식성이 낮으며, 집행통제 기능의 어려움을 가지고 있는 것으로 해석된다. 또한 일반 중학생의 경우 주의체계 중 집행통제가 문식성에 중요한 영향을 미치며, 학습부진 중학생의 낮은 쓰기 능력은 집행통제 기능의 어려움에서 기인함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study compared literacy and Attentional Networks between school underachievers and average students in a middle school co investigate the effect of alerting, orienting and conflict (executive control) of attention on literacy. We tested students with the Attention Network Test and literacy tasks including Korean reading, English reading, Korean writing. The analyses of response times in the Attention Network Test indicated significant difference in executive control but not in alerting and orienting between school underachievers and average students. In addition, all the literacy measures (Korean reading, English reading, Korean writing) were found to be different between the two groups. Regression analyses indicated that executive control uniquely explained unique variance of all the literacy measures among average students whereas it accounted for only Korean writing among underachievers. The results suggest significant impairments of executive control and literacy in underachievers. Executive control might be strongly related to literacy skills among average students but moderately to writing among school underachievers.
