국문 초록

1995년부터 특수교육대상자에 대한 대학입학 특별전형제도를 실시하게 됨으로써 급격히 대학 진학을 희망하는 장애학생들이 증가하게 되었다. 청각장애학생들도 장애영역들 중 세 번째일 정도로 대학을 많이 진학하고 있으나 그들에 대한 구체적인 인적 정보는 부족한 상태이다. 따라서 본 연구는 1-100위권의 4년제 대학에 입학한 청각장애대학생들의 실태를 조사하고자 하였다. 위의 연구 목적을 위해 4년제 대학들에 특수교육대상자 특별전형을 통해 들어간 청각장애학생들의 일반적 및 가족적 특성을 살펴본 후 대학 순위, 고등학교 출신 유형, 가족의 경제적 소득에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지 알아보았다. 연구대상은 1-100위권에 있는 4년제 대학들에 특별전형으로 들어간 청각장애를 가진 대학신입생들로서, 27개교에서 수집된 63부의 설문지를 분석하였다. 분석한 결과는 연구 문제에 맞춰 정리 및 논의하였다. 이러한 정보는 향후 청각장애인들을 위한 고등교육 정책 수립하는데 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 대학에서는 청각장애학생들을 위한 학습지원 서비스를 수립하는 데 도움이 되고, 고등학교에서는 진로 지도 시 참고 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study was to examine the demographic characteristics of freshmen with hearing impairments and deaf admitted through college special admission programs in the top 100 four-year colleges. The 63 completed surveys was collected from 27 universities and the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics (e. g., mean, percentile, frequency) and cross-tabulations. The results of the study indicated that the majority of respondents aged 20, were female, and lived in Seoul. Also, more than half of the respondents attended general classes and received private tutoring. Many respondents reported that they decided to go to postsecondary education during the final year of high school and the most frequent reason for pursuing higher education was to develop their aptitudes and ability. Regarding their college grades, about 54% of respondents obtained average B while 70% received a scholarship from their university. For the family characteristics of college students with hearing impairments and deaf, almost all the respondents were from two-parents household. In addition, more than half of respondents reported that their father and mother obtained college degrees and their family monthly income was between 2,000,001 and 4,000,000 won/monthly. Finally, this study also discussed the effects of types of high school, university rankings, and family's social economic status on the admission of colleges.
