국문 초록

이 논문은 박태원의『천변풍경』과 박완서의 『천변풍경』에 나타난 세태 특성을 고찰하여 당대를 읽고자 한 것이다. 두 작가가 한 시대를 대표한다는 점, 당대를 적확히 포착한 세태소설가라는 점에서 흥미로운 비교 연구이기도 하다. 박태원의『천변풍경』은 1930년대 식민지 도시 서민들의 모습을, 박완서의『천변풍경』은 1980년대 초 도시화 산업화 시대의 소외된 노인들의 모습을 그리고 있다는 점에서 그러하다. 특히 소시민들의 삶을 반영하여 당대 사회상, 풍속, 인간 존재 문제 등 진지한 문제의식을 담고 있는 점은 간과할 수 없다. 이 외에도 1930년대와 1980년대의 ‘천변풍경’에는 당대를 읽을 수 있는 요소가 풍부하다. 박태원의『천변풍경』이 ‘川邊’풍경, 박완서의『천변풍경』은 ‘天邊’풍경이라는 점을 들 수 있다. 전자가 냇물의 가장자리를 뜻한다면, 후자는 하늘의 가장자리라는 의미이다. 이처럼 서로 다른 제목의 한자 표기는 작품을 읽는 데 주요한 요소로 볼 수 있다. 문학이 시대를 반영한다는 전제를 염두에 둔다면 더욱 그렇다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This novel comprehends of the day by considering peculiarity of social conditions in Park, Tae-won’s Senery of a riverside and Park, Wan-Seo’s “Senery of a convulsion of nature”. Fact that these two writers represent of the age, and also in that respect, which novels captured exact of the age, it is interesting comparative study. Park, Tae-won’s Senery of a riverside shows colony city people’s life around 1930s, Park, Wan-Seo’s “Senery of a convulsion of nature” shows elder’s isolated life in industrialization and urbanization times in early 1980s. Specially, we cannot overlook that it gives critical mind by showing a social aspect, custom, and problem of human existence from petit bourgeois life. Besides, 1930s and 1980s Senery of a riverside have abound strain to understand the period. Park, Tae-won’s denotes Senery of a riverside, and Park, Wan-Seo’s Senery of a riverside. Former involves the edge of the riverside, the latter means the edge of the heaven. So different title written in Chinese characters is important factor when you read a literary work. Having literatures reflect age, and reflaction of age is literatures in mind, yes these two novels are clearly mirror of that.
