1950년대 국민국가 만들기와 상이군인의 ‘몸’

국문 초록

이 글은 전장에서 살아 돌아온 ‘상이군인(傷痍軍人)’에 대해 다룬다. 현재 한국전쟁에 참전한 상이군인의 문제는 규명하기 어렵다. 상이군인은 한국전쟁의 전면에 나선 영웅인 동시에 평생 동안 폭력의 기억을 몸(신체)에 안고 살아가야 하는 비극적 존재이다. 그런데 전후사회로 접어들면서 이들의 훼손된 신체는 비극적 존재로 받아들여지지 않고 전쟁의 공포를 생성시키는 몸 또는 불구자라는 동정의 시선을 획득한다. 다시 말해 전시 중의 상이군인의 경우 영웅적 존재로 인식되지만 전후사회에서 그들의 몸은 공포와 동정이라는 이중적 시선을 받는 것이다. 이로 인해 상이군인은 영웅/폭력/동정이라는 다양한 시선을 받으며 전후사회에서 국민국가 만들기의 도구로 작동되기에 이른다. 이후 상이군인의 몸은 국가권력에 의해 사회에서 은폐되거나 쉽게 노출 된다. 이러한 관점에서 쓰인 본 논문은 전시 중에 창간한 군기관지 『전선문학』과 1950년대 발표된 전후소설을 검토하며 작품 속에서 상이군인이 묘사되는 다양한 모습을 살펴본다. 또한 국가가 상이군인의 훼손당한 몸을 어떻게 도구화하고 있는지 살펴볼 것이다. 이때 『전선문학』의 경우 한국전쟁기에 발간된 매체의 특성을 살려 상이군인의 복잡다단한 구조적 갈등을 파헤칠 수 있다고 믿으며 이에 대해 해명해 나갈 것이다. 다음으로는 1950년대 전후소설 속에 표상되고 있는 상이군인의 모습을 살펴보고자 한다. 전후소설 속 상이군인의 묘사는 『전선문학』과 다른 양상으로 진행되는 데 그들의 몸은 국민국가 만들기에 이용되며 이는 국가의 중요성(당위성)을 일깨우는 동시에 반공논리까지 확대ㆍ재생산 된다. 지금까지 상이군인의 문제를 다룰 때 개인의 감정적 문제로 처리해 오는 것이 일반적이었다면 이제 이를 탈피해 상이군인을 바라보는 시각을 달리해야 한다. 상이군인의 몸이야말로 국가의 도구로 ‘포섭’과 ‘배제’라는 이중적인 논리로 작동되어 왔으며, 이때 그들의 몸이야말로 현재 한국사회의 이중성을 고발할 수 있는 가장 정직한 몸이기 때문이다.

영문 초록

It is difficult to proof Disabled Veterans, Every war involves violence, and that remains on their memory. They want to forget that miserable memory, but it is impossible to forget since imprinted seal in their body as ‘losing arm’ and ‘losing leg’. Therefore Disabled Veterans tragic existence that exhibit war violence on their body. But their injured bodies aren't the process of tragic existence after the Post-War society. It is an ironic existence between ‘violence’ and ‘sympathy’ During the wartime, Disabled Veterans were heros, but in the Post-War society, they began to exclude their existence. Because they carry in themselves bad memory of war, and make up ‘scary’ (unconsciously) among the people. But they had sacrificed themsleves for the Nation, and get people’s ‘sympathy’(consciously) at the same time, and be respectful in their countries. This duplication view point-‘violence’ and ‘sympathy’- about Disabled Veterans process to make ‘Nation-State’. In this point of view, this paper will look into 『Geonseon Munhak』 and 1950’s Post-War Novels that published for wartime, will look into those things are how to describe Disabled Veterans’s memory and Disabled Veterans’s body how to using by nation. At first, according to features of Korea Wartimes’s media, throughout 『Geonseon Munhak』, we will dissolve Disabled Veterans’s constructive conflict. Next, we will look into Disabled Veterans in 1950’s Post-War Novels. That ‘s completely different from 『Geonseon Munhak』. Duplication body whose Disabled Veterans in Post-War Novels is used to make Nation-State. Furthermore Disabled Veterans’s body aware necessity of nation, and their meaning extend to Anticommunism. Until now, we just thought that Disabled Veterans problem is individual and an affective problem, but now we need to change our minds, and have to find new aspect for them. Disabled Veterans’ body(Memory) that composed by ‘exclusion’ and ‘connotation’ is most important existence that for mature into Nation-State.
