국문 초록

박태원의 소설가 소설에 관한 기존 논의는 소설가 주체에만 초점을 맞추고 있다. 박태원 소설에 나타난 주체는 ‘타자의 시선을 통해 구성된다’는 점이 특징적이라는 점에서 주체－타자의 방법론이 적절할 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 박태원 소설에 나타난 소설가 주체의 정립을 살펴보고자 하였다. 소설가 소설은 크게 두 계열로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 첫 번째 작품군은 소설가가 관찰자의 위치를 차지하고, 의식의 지향성을 통해 타자를 표상하는 작품들이다. 이때 타자는 소설가 주체에 의해 관찰되고, 평가되는 대상이 된다. 두 번째 작품군에서는 소설가가 타자와 자신을 분리하고자 한다. ‘구별짓기’를 통해 당대의 다양한 문화적 주체들과 자신을 구분하는 것이다. 그러나 그들은 외양이나 문화적 향유의 측면에서 분리불가능하다. 1940년대의 자화상 연작에서 나타나는 소설가 주체는 생활 세계의 일상인들로부터 자신을 구분하고자 한다. 이 과정에서 ‘소설쓰기’와 육체적 노동이 비교 대상이 된다. 기존 연구에서는 자화상 연작을 시대의 변화를 통해 설명해 내고 있으나 본 연구에서는 소설가 소설을 통시적으로 살펴보고, 텍스트들 사이의 관계와 텍스트의 내부적 특질의 변모 양상을 밝히고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The existing discussion of novelist’s novel by Park Tae Won lays focus only on the subject of novelist. The subject shown in novel by is Park Tae Won characterized by ‘being composed through other’s sight’. Therefore in this case, methodology of subject-other seems to be proper. This study tried to investigate the establishment of the subject of novelist shown in Park Tae Won’s novel. Novelist’s novel can be divided into two lines. First group of works are ones that the novelist takes the place of observer and symbolizes others through the directivity of consciousness. At the moment, the other becomes an object observed and evaluated by the novelist. In the second group of works, the novelist tries to separate himself from the other. He tries to distinguish himself from various contemporary cultural subjects through ‘separation’. However separation at the aspect of the appearance or cultural enjoyment is impossible. The novelist subject shown in the self-portrait series in 1940s tries to separate himself from the ordinary people in living world. In this process, ‘novel writing’ and physical labor become the object of comparison. The existing researches explain the self-portrait series through the transformation of the era. This research tried to investigate novelist’s novel diachronically and define the aspect of transformation of the relation between texts and the internal characteristics of text.
