박태원의 소설에 대한 몇 가지 주석

국문 초록

아쿠다가와 류노스케의 소설들은 박태원의 초기 소설에 일정한 영향을 주었다. 「적멸」은 그 대표적인 예다. 이 작품은 아쿠다가와의 「어느 옛 벗에게 보내는 수기」, 「다이도오지 신스케의 반생」, 「톱니바퀴」 등과 문학적으로 대화하고 있다. 이는 아쿠다가와의 ‘벗’으로서 스스로를 소설가의 위치에 정립시키려 했던 박태원의 정신적인 풍경을 보여준다. 한편 「적멸」은 박태원식 고현학의 기원이 되는 작품이다. 이 소설은 ‘행인’으로써 관찰의 시점을 마련함과 동시에 현실이라는 타자를 도입한다. 이때 식민지 경성과 제국의 동경은 이중 노출되고 상호 참조된다. 더 나아가 박태원의 소설은 고현학을 현실 묘사의 방법으로 활용함으로써 그것을 식민지인의 맥락 속에 소설적으로 전유한다. 이는 다양한 교환가치에 대한 치밀한 묘사로 나아간다. 이때 사회와 인간의 관계는 “갖지 않았다, 갖는다면”이라는 ‘우울한 가정법’으로 표현된다. 따라서 「명랑한 전망」이 제시하는 ‘전망’은 미심쩍다. 주인공은 식민지 근대의 본질을 통찰하게 하는 경성을 떠나 시골로 가기 때문이다. 그리고 명랑함은 ‘우울한 가정법’은 물론 이와 짝을 이루는 유머 역시 폐기한다. 한편 이 작품은 부분적으로만 읽혀짐으로써 잘못 평가되기도 했다. 이는 연구자와 출판사 모두가 텍스트에 좀더 신중하고 정확히 접근해야 할 필요성을 제기한다

영문 초록

Park Tae-won’s early works are influenced by Akudagawa Ryunosuke’s literary texts. For example, “Nirvana(적멸)” talks with Akudagawa’s works inter-textually, such as “A note to an old friend”, “The half life of Daidoji Shinsuke” and “Toothed wheel”. It shows the mental landscape of Park who has tried to be in the site of novelist as a friend of Akudagawa. Meanwhile, “Nirvana” is the work that originates Park’s ‘modernology’. By passengers of this text, viewpoint of observation and the reality as the other were introduced. In this process, colonial Keizo and imperial Tokyo were double-exposed and referred reciprocally. Furthermore, by using ‘modernology’ as a method of describing reality, Park’s works appropriate it in the colonial literary contexts. And it advances to the elaborate depictions of various exchange values. At this time, essence of relation between human beings and society is expressed by the melancholic supposition of “do not have, if have”. Consequently, the prospect of “Bright prospect(명랑한 전망)” is doubtful. For hero leaves Keijo which lets him insight the essence of colonial modernity and goes to the countryside. And brightness abolishes not only melancholic supposition of “do not have, if have” but also the humor. On the other hand, this work has misunderstood and evaluated wrongly because of the textual omission. Therefore, it is necessary for researchers and publishers to have more prudent attitudes to texts.
