미술영재의 잠재성 평가 방안 연구

국문 초록

미술영재를 선발함에 있어 가장 중요한 요소는 현재적 성취수준만이 아니라 앞으로 발전할 가능성으로서 잠재성을 얼마나 타당하게 평가할 것인가이다. 그러나 지금까지의 미술영재 선발에 관한 측면에서 영재성과 잠재성의 개념, 잠재성을 평가하기 위한 방안에 대한 구체적인 논의는 찾아보기 힘든 상황이다. 이에 본고에서는 미술영재 선발의 관점에서 영재성과 잠재성의 개념을 정의하고, 미술전문가 61명의 견해를 통해 잠재성의 구인과 타당한 평가방법을 탐색하였다. 그 결과, 미술영재의 잠재성 요인은 부단한 노력, 시각적 상상력, 창의성, 목표를 달성하기 위한 도전의식, 집중력과 몰입의 5요인으로 나타났으며, 이를 평가하기 위한 적절한 방법으로서는 수업관찰평가, 창의성평가, 포트폴리오평가가 제시되었다. 특히 실기능력 보다는 정의적, 태도적 측면이 중요 변인으로 인식되고 있으며 이를 평가할 방법으로서 수업관찰평가, 창의성 및 포트폴리오 평가가 중시되는 점은 실기평가 중심으로 진행되는 현재의 미술영재선발에 변화가 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

One of the most important things in regard to the validity and effectiveness of gifted education in arts is whether to assess the individual's potential not just the achievements. However, till now it is hard to see the discussions or researches which deal with the concept of giftedness and potential in visual arts. This study is an attempt to re-conceptualize the meaning of giftedness and potential of visual arts and to find out the proper methodology to assess the potential. For this purpose, I re-visited various literatures which deal with those terms and surveyed 61 accomplished artist and designers, who are called to be experts in the field. In conclusion, the concept of potential can be defined as the procedural concept which has to be reached to the giftedness, and it can be explained as the opposite concept to present achievement, which is not actualized yet. As a result, 61 experts answered that ‘creativity’ is the most important for potential in visual arts, followed by ‘visual imagination’ and challenging mind, concentration ability. Also experts said the most proper methodology to evaluate the potential in visual arts is the observational assessment in class, followed by creativity assessment and portfolio assessment. This result is contradictory to the conventional utility of performance test as an assessment tool to identify the gifted in visual arts. Therefore those 3 methodologies can be considered as alternative ways to identify the potential in visual arts.
