영문 초록

Local festivals is very significant from the perspective of place marketing. Furthermore, many local festivals are increasingly being used as means for boosting tourism and promoting the local economy. As a result, many researches related to local festivals focus on its impacts. Many local festivals have been held since 1995 in Korea. The fact could be related with starting the local self-governing system in Korea. The purpose of this study is to profile local festivals, which are supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Korea as a major cultural tourism festival in Korea. Chi-square test indicates that the classification of the festival was influenced by local self-governing system, respectively. Additionally, many local governing bodies tended to hold a local festival for activating the local economy.
