成大中의 『仙槎漫浪集』 硏究

국문 초록

본고는 靑城 成大中(1732∼1809)이 울진현령 시절(1767∼1770)에 저술한 『仙槎漫浪集』2책을 소개하고 내용적 특징을 규명하였다. 仙槎는 경상북도 울진의 古號로, 불영계곡.성류굴.망양정 등 뛰어난 승경지가 많은 지역이다. 성대중은 울진 현령으로 재임하면서 주변의 승경지를 두루 유람하고 그 흥취를 시로 묘사하였다. 또 공무로 原州 감영을 자주 왕래하였는데, 이 곳에는 성대중의 스승인 金焌이 거처하고 있었다. 김준을 통해 蟾洲에서 閔百順.林配垕.安錫儆 등의 선배학자를 만나 주역을 강론하고 근처의 汶田巖과 翠屛山 등을 유람하며 백여 수의 시문을 창수하였는데, 이는 『선사만랑집』에서 가장 많은 비중을 차지한다. 성대중은 癸未사행을 다녀온 후 얼마 지나지 않아 울진현령으로 부임한만큼, 생사고락을 함께 하며 사행의 임무를 수행했던 趙曮.元重擧에 대한 시를 많이 저술하였다. 조엄.원중거와는 사행을 계기로 만난 이후 평생동안 남다른 친분을 유지하고 世交를 맺었던 바, 이들에 대한 기억과 그리움을 유감없이 시 속에 표출하였다. 성대중의 울진현령 시절은 문과에 급제한 뒤 사행을 다녀온 이후이며 순정한 학식과 고문으로 정조에게 인정받고 널리 명성을 떨치기 이전 시기이다. 즉 성대중의 청장년 시절로 학문에 대한 드높은 열정을 지니고 고귀한 정신세계를 추구하던 즈음인 것이다. 이러한 경향이 『선사만랑집』에 여실히 표출된 만큼, 『선사만랑집』은 성대중의 청장년 시절 학문적 성향과 시작 경향 및 교유관계를 살필 수 있는 중요한 자료이다. 또 李德懋와 宋載道가 『선사만랑집』에 評語를 더하고 높이 평가했던 만큼, 『선사만랑집』의 문학적 가치 또한 주목할 만하다.

영문 초록

This article introduced the two volumes of 『Seonsamanrangjip(仙槎漫浪集)』, a collection of poems written by Cheongseong(靑城) Seong Dae-jung(成大中, 1732∼1809) during his term of office as Uljin county governor(1767∼1770), and examined the characteristics of their contents. Seonsa(仙槎) is the old name of Uljin. As Uljin has many excellent natural scenes such as Bulyeong valley, Seongryu cave and Mangyang bower, Seong had visited them and described their charms in poems. He also had often called at on business the local government office of Wonju where his master Kim Jun(金焌) had stayed. Seong met Min Baek-sun(閔百順), Im Bae-hu(林配垕) and An Seok-gyeong(安錫儆) at Seomju(蟾洲) on the introduction of Kim Jun to discuss on the Book of Changes. Seong and three men had wrote one hundred or more poems during their sight-seeings to nearby Munjeon temple(汶田巖) and Chuibyeong mountain(翠屛山), which poems account for the major portion of 『Seonsamanrangjip』. As Seong proceeded his office in Uljin not long after accompanying Gyemi year delegation to Japan, 『Seonsamanrangjip』 uniquely contains the poems that he wrote with Jo Eom(趙曮), the official envoy, and Won Jung-geo(元重擧) the secretary who shared the good times and the bad times with him for 11 months. Because Jo Eom and Won Jung-geo had become his life long acquaintances and companions after forming ties for the first time at the delegation, Seong fully expressed the memories and yearnings for them in his works. Seong's Uljin office term, being followed by his pass of ranking officials exam and Gyemi year delegation accompanying, was the time he won recognition from King Jeongjo as well as reputation from many people for his genuine learning and archaic texts. In other words, it was the period in which he had ardent passion for learning and had pursued sublime mental world. As such basis was well expressed in 『Seonsamanrangjip』, it must be a very important and helpful material to find out his academic inclination, mental world and companionship in his manhood.
