유아 컴퓨터 환경에 있어서의 전이와 또래 문화 발달에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 미국의 유아들이 가정과 학교에서 컴퓨터를 실제로 어떻게 사용하는지를 조사하기 위하여, 미국 중부에서 한 가정과 Kindergarten 교실을 대상으로 집단적 사례 연구를 실시하였다. 자료의 수집은 인터뷰, 비디오 녹화, 참여 관찰을 통하여 이루어 졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 미국의 유아들은 가정과 학교 환경에서 각각 상이한 컴퓨터 사용경험을 하고 있으며, 유아들이 가정과 학교를 거치며 각각의 컴퓨터 사용문화에 적응하고 협상하는 과정을 보여주고 있다. 즉, 가정은 유아들에게 풍부한 상호작용을 기반으로 하는 섬세한 컴퓨터 환경을 제공할 수 있으며, 학교는 유아들의 또래 문화를 바탕으로 한 협동적 학습과 자발성을 수용함으로써 유아 발달에 도움을 줄 수 는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 한국 유아컴퓨터교육 환경에 있어서 가정과 학교의 역할에 대한 접근방법과 방향성에 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study examined how young children actually learn to use computers in home and school environment. A collective case study was conducted in one family and one kindergarten classroom located in a Midwestern town. Data were collected through series of interviews, video recording, and participant observation. The result indicates that the children experienced dissimilar computer environment, and they developed distinctive ways of adjusting and negotiating home and school computer culture. Home can provide a sensitive computer environment with rich interaction while school can benefit from incorporating children's peer collaboration and initiative based on their computer peer culture.
