그림책 읽기 활동 유형이 유아의 어휘정의내리기에 미치는 효과의 차이

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교육현장에서 그림책 읽기를 하는데 활발하게 사용되어 왔던 맥락적 읽기 유형과 음운 인식, 자모음 지식과 같은 주요 읽기 기술들을 좀 더 강조하는 분석적 읽기 유형을 교육활동에 적용한 후 각 읽기 유형이 유아 가정의 사회 경제적 지위에 따라 유아의 어휘정의내리기에 미치는 효과를 분석하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 서울시에 소재한 유치원 3곳과 어린이집 1곳의 만 4세반 유아 182명을 대상으로 10주 동안 실험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 유아의 어휘 정의내리기 경향은 계층에 관계없이 동일한 경향을 나타내었다. 즉, 어떤 유형의 그림책 읽기 활동에 참여 하더라도 분석적인 정의를 더 많이 하는 경향을 보였다. 유아들의 어휘습득은 맥락적 그림책 읽기 유형과 분석적 그림책 읽기 유형을 병행할때 더 효과가 있을 것으로 생각된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to apply educational activities using contextual reading, which is widely used for picturebook reading, and analytic reading, which focuses on major reading skills such as phonological awareness and letter knowledge, to mid-to-high income class children and low-income class children and to analyze the effects that the two reading styles have on children'sacquisition of words The objects of this study were 182 children from four children's education centers in Seoul. Researcher and an assistant read out a total of 10 picturebooks over a period of10 weeks. Children's word defining tendencies were similar in both income classes. In other words, more children tended to show analytic defining regardless of which picturebook reading activity they participated in.
